1/3rd SB 13 wing

Hey there guys I've almost been inspired to get back into my 1/3rd scale SB 13 wing project, that has been on the go off and on for the past 10 years. Here are some pics of the master patterns prior to moulding.
The concept for wing construction will be blue foam cores with prelaid dry skins vacume bagged wet with a layer of 6oz carbon twill cloth @ 45 degrees across the skins to aid in torshional stiffness after the spar and joiner system have been fitted. I used a similar technique on my 40% Schweizer 1-26 a few years back. I'f I'm not mistaken she should be pretty light for a 5 meter model too.

cheers Rossco

Funny how I was just fiddling with that one in CAD.

Do you have any more docs re this design ?

I used the Marske P3 rib for my wing section.

Hay big nuts.

I just found your SB-13 and the pioneer 2 thread. I am looking forward to seeing how they come out.

Good flying.

WOW ! , Thanks BN181

Plenty of motivation and inspiration in those pix !

Pretty tight cockpit confines in this bird.
You'd have to be a Groenhoff sized guy to get in !

This thread should be resurected. Rossco, what airfoils where you going to use. Especially at the root since it's now part of the plug.

Hi Brian yes I must get back into it, but have to finish my 40% Pawnee and half scale Asw 22 first. But thankyou for the thought. As to section, from memory I went with the silent flight magazine articles recommendation from way back when..... In the mean time Ive now made a scale tub for my csm 4 meter Fox, am almost finished a 97" ecomrc Pawnee with lots of mods and have a Moki 50 cc to fit to my miles m38, my cubby house to hate with the kids is almost done and I'm going flying for the day tomorrow with my ka8.....
Cheers Rossco

Rossco,

Would that be this article? If so I quess the root would have a HQ 34N/14.83 airfoil. Do you have a .cor or .dat file for that somewhere? I can seem to find one.

The design I have uses a modified SA7038 at the root. I'm guessing they might be pretty similar.
