Question
dumb question for beginner builder

Ok, I've read folks talking about "wax" paper vs "parchment" for use in building kits.

Wax paper I get, but what is meant by Parchment?? Parchment to me is high quality paper - - -

would a heavy weight "butcher" paper work as a build surface as well?

thanks

Dave

HI Dave

Parchment paper is a nonstick paper used in baking. You can find it in the same section of a store where you find wax paper. It works well, and you do not have any chance of wax weakening your glue joints. The brand I use is Reynolds. Don't know if there are other brands. Try it. You'll like it.

Clear polythene sheet is also very good at rejecting many adhesives sticking.

I have always used wax paper. However, lately I have had some problems with it sticking to the glue joints. Not too bad as it usually sands right off.

Wax paper just ain't what it used to was.
I have saved the plastic backing off of Monokote, and use that instead.

Me too! I have used cling-film for bigger jobs but found CA stuck to that too!
