Question
LET DG-1000 Retract Wheel

Just noticed that the retract tire on my Let DG-1000 has split. Somehow I recall that Let uses CB Associate giant scale wheels. The tire measures a shade over 4" in diameter and CB carries a wheel that looks identical to the one supplied by Let.

Here is the link to CB Associates: http://www.mecoa.com/cb/wheels.htm

Does anyone know for sure if the CB wheel does the job?

TIA,

Steve

Yes they do. You may need to re-bush the axle, but you can always use the guts from the one you have.

Let uses cb as their wheel supplier, so does FEMA and Hock.

Thanks Alvaro. When I ordered a replacement wheel from CB, I also ordered one directly from Let which arrived one day after I installed the new CB wheel. Apparently Let now sources locally as their hub is machined aluminum and the tire compound is somewhat harder than CB. Either one should do the job nicely.

Also, I believe Hock is no longer in business though FEMA definitely is along with a few new German retract suppliers including:

They make this fantastic retract.

I notice CB offers the larger (5") wheels in both smooth and rib-treaded types . Are both used on the full-scale sailplanes? For a 6-8m scale sailplane ( Nimbus4), would either have an advantage, or is it cosmetic? Thanks, Bob

I think CB offers its smooth and treaded wheels just as Dubro and other do to reflect the full size ship be it a sailplane or power plane.

Thanks, I just didn't know the difference. So, the smooth is used on the sailplanes. Smooth it will be. Thanks.

I'm not suggesting that sailplanes always use smooth tires, just that both styles are available from suppliers, both R/C and full size.
