I need to find a reasonably priced source for gibmal potentiometers. I have the Turnigy 9x v2. I have asked in the main thread on that radio, but nobody has an answer. So I am widening the search.

go to Google and specify size and type of pot (inc values/linear /tapered / etc.).
Most of this stuf comes as a set - the wiper and pot

Don't show me how to fish! Just feed me!

Seriously though, I have already spent days/weeks searching google, digikey, forums, etc looking for a specific pot for my transmitter. So, I know your only trying to help, but I am hoping there is someone on this forum that actually knows of a vendor for my specific pot. From what I heard they are identical to the DX6i gimbal pots.

Third choice. Buy junked 9X. I sold a burnt 9X for $10.

I have considered your suggestions before, I just did not think I could get a spare parts radio for less than $20(kinda what I am looking to spend). I have been and will just have to keep my eyes out for that

That is kinda what I was looking for. Something known to work for my application. Unfortunately, that is too steep at $20 per gimbal.

May I ask what is wrong with the one you have? Just an infant failure or solder connection?

You may find my posts on the main 9x thread. I noticed that the singal on throttle and aileron channels were not smooth. I noticed this affecting the behavior in Phoenix. My heli would bob up and down with out input. So following others advice, I took the pots apart to clean them. I gently used an pencil eraser to remove carbon dust. I have not been able to get the radio to work correctly since. Now channels behave in odd manner. It is hard to describe. But they are all not working right together. If I move the throttle, I get both movement on throttle and other channels. I get reduced overall output on some channels. This has made the radio unusable. I did not have and I have checked that there are no D/R, Mixes, endpoint, subtrim adjustments have been made. Thanks for asking.

Were they extremely shiny or dull looking.

In my opinion, no. I can say that using the eraser did remove carbon dust. I then wiped with 90% isopropyl. In my opinion, there is still pleanty of carbon left. and it is nice and clean.

During my 40 years of flying, I have never seen a bad pot even in basic 4ch TX until now.

You've been lucky, John, or you haven't done much flying. In the 70's especially and into the 80's I cleaned them at least once a season because they needed it.

I also did this -but tx pots were always OK for me -

Must have been the World Engines "Blue Max" I was using

You're right - servo pots back then were horrible!! Even crappy $2 servos today have more reliable pots.

Did you ever see the Heathkit varcap servos? My Dad had (has) that radio yet. They changed with humidity!

Holy crap Andy - my dad an I built two of those Blue Max... I just got rid of the box last year (the unit was long gone)
