Best paintjob for an F-18

I just got a 2-meter F-18 Hornet. It's a foam model, meant for two 90mm fans, and I've yet to even start on it since I don't have the fans. I have started to look for a good paint scheme, though. It seems like most people paint their F-18:s in the Blue Angels scheme, which is nice and all, but I'd like to have something that's both simpler to do and less conventional. Navy grey is out, I want to be able to see the model in the air :-).

Right now I'm thinking maybe NASA white with a blue stripe down the side, but does anyone else have any good suggestions?

I used the "Mighty Shrikes" theme on my pusher. The orange helps out alot in the air.

There's a white and orange (or red) scheme that was used in testing. I used it on my jetset44 pusher F-18 and it has great visibility in the air.

Look at post 13 in this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=425524

That's an F-18E in the thread above, but the same scheme was apparently used on the F-18C. I'll attach a photo of a yellow aircraft F-18C done in this scheme. The bottom of the wings and fuse is done in the inverse (i.e. a red triangle inboard with white on the outer wings).

Do some research into the canadian hornets--particualry in thier anniversary schemes---they really know how to paint their birds.

Now that's an interesting link, should be able to find something there.
Rhagen, who flies that scheme?

And does anyone else have the same F-18 as me? It's 2 meters (6 feet) long, made out of what looks and feels like white packing foam (hard and light) and comes in four parts, two bottom and two top ones, with an included plastic cockpit tub and canopy, and separate wings and tail feathers. It actually looks like J Morgans, but has deeper panel lines.

The instructions show either two 90mm fans or a large prop between the jet pipes. I'm building it for my LHS (well, I get to keep it after a test session), and have no idea where it's from or whether it's a copy of some brand name kit.

Should be able to get some pics of the bits this weekend, for identification. The manual is no help, it's mainly in chinese with lots of pictures :-).

That sure looks like it, thank you.

And I probably COULD do a single fan setup, but since I'm not going to pay full price for any of this stuff I'll try for the full double fan setup. Not too sure about retracts, though, my local fields are all grass.

I'm almost ready to maiden my Het F18, if the weather decides to cooperate. I went with the Tiger Meet theme because it looks cool and should be easy to see. It didn't hurt that it's Canadian too.

Wow, that tiger scheme is beautiful. Might not meet my "easy" criterion, but...

I found the following site when I was looking for a colour scheme for my F-18 parkjet.....

http://users.skynet.be/exotic.planes...er/schemes.htm

I'm planning to go with either the "Blue" or the "Grey" aggressor schemes.

I like the tiger meet schemes, but have also always been partial to "Chippy Ho"
