Battlefield 1942 - Having Trouble running it, What gives?

I downloaded the Demo for "Battlefield 1942" because I am putting it on my Christmas list & wanted to try it out.
The problem is a times my Computer will Bog down (slow up) & the picture will get slow & jerky. My Computer Specs are Intel Pentium 4 1.6 GHZ, 512 MB SDRAM, 40 GB WD Hard Drive, Nvidia Gforce 3 Titanium Ti-64 AGP Video Card.
This should be a pretty good setup right? What, do I need to add some more memory?

-Thanks-

I'm running it fine on a similar system. True adding more RAM. Also, make sure it's video lag and not connection lag.

Also, be sure you close all your background apps. Extra firewalls, P2P programs, messenger programs, etc.

I play it all the time, I had lots of video card issues, but thats it. Your setup is better than mine, should work just fine. How long can you play before it gets slow? What OS? What are the video settings? Does it help if you drop the video settings? Try a reboot before you try the game, see if that helps. Let me know....

Also check the settings in the graphics options, turn the detail down and try again.

Same goes for the sound.

I had the game on a 600 Mz Celeron, and Geforce 4MX 460 and it played ok

I turned off some junk in the Startup menu & also cleaned off junk from the hard drive, It seems better now!
I am already hooked on this game & I only have the Demo version (Hellenborn), I trust that the rest of the game is this fun?

P.S. - Hopefully Santa will have a copy of "Battlefield 1942" in his Sled.

-Thanks-

Hellenborn is actually the demo of the latest expansion, Secret Weapons. Personally I can't wait for BFNam.

If you dont mind leaving the system on, a good Defragmenting couldn't hurt either.

And yeah, it's a very fun, unique type of game. I also recommending downloading the Desert Combat mod, it's very, very good. Only thing is it takes lots of practice to fly choppers! =/

If you like regular shooters, check into Call of Duty as well. I've beaten the Single Player on the hardest difficulty, and WOW, is it fun. I'm playing in comp leagues for MP as well, Search and Destroy is probably the best multiplayer game I've ever played.

Glad you got it going reb! A defrag would be a good idea.
I just got into BF1942 a short time ago, its the most fun Ive had playing a 'shooter since Rouge Spear. The Hellenborn map is what got me to buy it.
Ive heard Call of Duty was awesome, thats next on my list....

One, the Demo was super laggy on my system, but the full game runs fine. Two, How do you have your virtual memory setup?

How do I get my guy to lay down on his belly while shooting with the sniper rifle? All I can do is stand up, can't crouch either & i'm getting picked off all the time.

P.S. - I think it's a nice touch in that even though it's a demo, you can still play online.

-Thanks-

Call of Duty, a bit diff than other WWII sims, as you are not so free roaming, rather you are part of a squad in each level.. Graphics are excellant. Best on high end systems for sure. I run:

P4 3.0 ghz 800 FSB
Asus PC 800 deluxe MOB
200 Gigs of HD at 133 mghz
NVidia FX 5900 256 onboard Mb
Plextor 48x DVD drive
Thermaltake case (7 fans)
420 Watt Power Supply

Built the system for under $2,700. it just screams....

Pretty much as fast as ya need to be to run that latest sims. And I have em all with all the expansion packs. I mean all.

Newly released sims push the envelope for older systems. To truly appreciate all effects and best visual, ya just need to plain ole take the leap and go for a new system.

Hello:
At the end of Hellendoorn, a scoreboard pops up with my name. It has numbers under what looks like a Trophy, A guy with Lighting Bolts coming out & a Skull & Crossbones. What do those represent? I assume my score of who I killed but what do they mean?

-Thanks-
