Question
wemo or het 70mm fan

Hi there
Having read a few threads I decided on a wemo 480 fan and ordered one.
It arrived today but the supplier sent a HET 6904 instead ?????
When I phoned I was told We don't sell wemo. Is there Such a big difference, or should I just try it rather than sending it back.It is a four blade.I was going to fit it to a Hoffman Beast Or LS 1400 I have both.
Cheers
Steve.

If he charged you the price of a wemo and shipped you HET, I'd definitely raise hell. There is a pretty significant price difference between the two.

Performance wise you will get different opinions from the two camps. I can tell from past experience that HET 6904 and Wemo pro are both excellent fans.

I personally don't like the HET all that much, the 3 I have owned all took considerable work to be balanced properly, one of them had an out of round collet and motors like the Neu 11 series and Lehner 15 series won't fit it. I much prefer the Wemo that runs silky smooth out of the box. It just feels like the quality is better.

Pete at Hoffman recommends the Wemo fan. I have one with a Hoffman Wild Beast on my Sapac L-39 on 4s 3600. Pete claims the HET will pull more amps and that's not what you want. I am using a CC125 and getting 1900 watts. On a 4 lbs plane it is insane fast. Timer is set for 4.5 min and getting it, no problems. Make sure the fan does not break itself in by rubbing on the shroud. This will destroy the motor. Ask Pete!

I've gone through a couple of HET fans and have not been that happy with them. If the Wemo was available, I would take that one instead.

I would go for the Wemo, if you could find them. Who carries them in the US besides EJF anyway?

Hi Jay,

In general I prefer the WeMo. It is a lot easier to seat and run in. Guys like Roger have probably done many, many of fans. Hell he could probably make my ceiling fan run smooth. The reason I say Wemo is it is a lot easier to run in and make work properly where the HET is a lot more work in my opinion.
Yes it is a more agressive fan and does pull more amps but I have had two go off in my hand. (I know)

I just put a HET in my sapac L-39
havn't flown it yet ... but it's silky smooth and sounds cool for a 70mm

I also like the collet over the set screw

I put a Neu 1112 1y in mine with a CC ICE 100 and a 4s 35c 4200 hyperion

95 amps burst to 1350 watts
steady 85 amps and 1250 watts
