I decided on this one vs. the RocHobby F2G. It looks more scale and I can always upgrade to the super Corsair power system for the same price. Hobbyking has them in stock in the US warehouse now and it cost $167, shipping included.
I will go with a 950W Emax motor, 80amp ESC, 3300 5s batteries, 11x10APC. My PZ P47 got over 100mph with this set up.

I used the tail retract from the 1400mm FMS Hellcat, and modified it to look like the Corsair tail wheel. I also vacuformed a set of gear doors and linked them to the retract via ball links. That way, when the wheel retracts it pulls the doors closed with it.

Hey guys wanted to share cool flight at the beach with Durafly F4U Corsair. All stock with 2200mah 3s lipo. No mods all original, just added paint touch-up for extra scale realism. She's a smooth flyer in the wind.

Enjoy.

Wow nicely done! I don't suppose you have a video of them in action, do you?

Did you add weathering details on your plane? Looks nice!

Excellent work! What prop did you end up using? Did you have to change out the motor as well? That big prop makes a difference.

No, sorry. The pictures are all I have, and the tail retract needs repair after taking a fall from 20ft, so I can't video it take now. When it is fixed I can take video.

I ended up using an APC 15x12x4 cut down to 13.5 in diameter, with rounded tips. I changed out the motor for a dynam 3720 650KV motor, with a 75A ESC. It flies very slow and scale on 3S, and has a good amount of power on 4S. However, takeoffs require full right rudder on high rates. Lots of torque, but that is part of the Corsair's character in my opinion.

Yes i did but it wasn't airbrush type weathering, just a silver paint pen marker minor manual touch up to turn the stock F4U into old metal junk looking plane with metallic scratches and battle scars. Works great on dark colored planes.
