need more power bigger motor 3790 kv may work. Wing may be to small for auw. high stall speed ill see tomorrow

Just did some thinking whit the tips posted in this thread.

i started whit this. But got the tip to look at the thrust line whit the wing-line.


I looked at it. But didn't got the look right. Just not that i would say, that's what i would like.
Got some design what looks like a mig15 whit a tale of the vampire (twin booms).
But it was not what i was looking for, not sexy enough.
The twin boom was not the thing where i was looking for, so need a single fuselage. But then the thruseline could be a problem. After looking in the micro edf sector, i found some pictures. Sorry for copying them to here, but like to know what you guys think about it, before starting the design of my own. not twin boom, but twin edf. And i like it, its sexy



It has a longer fuse, which those speed planes also have (like Erik tipped).
It could be build whit one pease wing, fuse needs a little tweek to get batteries in, but no big changes. Will be for twin 70mm.

Only disadvantage would be, that it needs twin 70mm. But for me is not a problem. Price will be almost the same as one 90mm 8S plane. But the twin setup has the advantage that thrustline is in line whit the wing.

Please post your thoughts about it. Like i said, the one disadvantage i could think about would be the twin setup which is needed. Other than that, i think only advantage. But please, think whit me.

And for me, i like 90mm planes. But for the speed the 70mm is better, because the higher exflux. Getting a twin 70mm, it could not be that small as the uriah, as Erik designed. Also think it is easier to build, not a pain in the @ss as the uriah was

1st of all, I like to read you have still good thoughts for high speed edf!
For high speed, I doubt that a twin would be the ticket because of additional weight of anextra drive train. On the other hand, you could reduce thrust tube dia to gain efflux.

Perhaps you could redesign the A10 for high speed. At VTH you can order the Heino dittmar drawings for sp400. There would be good space in the fuse for cells. For simplicity you could make a straight wing. even a clipped wing Reno style wouldlook nice.

If you really like simplicity you need to build a turbine Cri-cri. It took me 4 years to fine a decent 3-view to work with but never found a good route to pull the canopy.

The extra drive train is not just dead weight , like putting in a big battery which is not needed. It is extra weight , but the fan pushes it own weight and extra.

I don't think you will have a record breaker with twins. You double the thrust (=acceleration), not the efflux speed which makes a twin low efficient in high speed perspective.
