Reno 2014

Went to the Air Races (always been on my bucket list) and got to see some pretty cool stuff. First time I have ever linked to a photo album, so we will see if this works. My wife took over 1500 pictures - these are just some. This is her first time taking pictures of really fast things, but I think she did a great job.

If there are any particular things anyone would like more pictures of, let me know and I will see what I can do.

The one plane that was just incredible to hear was the F7F "El Patrone". Geez, it was loud.

The Air Races is among the few reasons I'd like to visit the USA at some point

The Unlimiteds must be magnificent - but did you catch any good shots of the Formula 1 and Biplane racers?

Only a couple. To be honest the biplanes raced early and we usually weren't there yet, and the Formula 1 was sparsely attended, most people going to the beer tent or to walk around. Here is what she got, I think this is what you are talking about. They were so small and so fast that most of the pictures were no good. Same as the jet class - awesome racing but very hard to capture on film.

The Mustang is actually called a Thunder Mustang and there were two of them in the Formula 1 Class. They did fairly well, but there was a rear winged plane that pretty much dominated that class.

The best Formula 1 and Biplane in-flight photos that I've seen have been taken by people who got places right under the pylons. That is not for everybody, I think.

The Thunder Mustang, Long-Ez, and all the Lancairs are in the Sport class: way more power than the F1s have.

Shows how much I watched them. I have no desire to be right under a pylon, just sayin.
