Have I priced?..... Y'know, that's a funny thing. I've been to the 2 screenprinters we have in this po-dunk town I live near - one of 'em about 3-4 times, and I still don't know how much I'd be paying!
Player #1 is one of these guys, you never know if he's gonna be in or open, voice-mail's full, you finally catch him & give a full description of what you want & he says "I'll let you know"......and you never hear from him until next time you can catch him, then he's not figured everything yet. He only wants to talk generalities, & obviously doesn't feel like it's worth his while unless you're ordering dozens of the same design. At player #2's shop, in 5 minutes I could tell she felt pretty much the same way about the quantities, & every question you ask the answer is "It all depends...." And btw, both showed a high reluctance to do it on shirts I provide.
Startin' to get a feeling why I'm looking to do it myself?

A good portion of their profit is in the shirt mark up. It also puts them in a bind if they screw one up as they can't just grab another. It's like providing parts for your mechanic to install

Yeah, I know......but still, couldn't I at least get a quote on what I asked for - as expensive as it might be!?! That's the part I couldn't understand, until I finally deduced the message I was getting -- they just didn't care to do it. Meh.
Hence my inquiry.
Amusing side note:
There was one of these printers at a festival we attended....gal had a booth. I described what I wanted, asked could she do it, & for a ball-park number. I even went over to the funnel-cake joint next door & grabbed a napkin so I could sketch out my design for her. Told her it was original (but it was functionally a simple pattern), & would basically have to be 'free handed'. Could've been done easily from the napkin sketch.
"Yes I can! Just send me the artwork & I'll give you a price", and she turns away to resume her hot dog & Coke. I'm just standing there, saying "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......", pointing to the napkin.
She got busy with another customer.....I just walked.
I sweartagawd, it just seems like SO many "businesses" these days would rather you just didn't bother them, & prefer you just mail 'em a check, with no questions asked & no expectations. It disgusts me.
