Live Hinging

Its been a while since I built and bagged. I'm curious what has changed in the last number of years. I originally used KEVLAR, then TYVEC and even glass itself if the throws were conservative.

If there's existing threads, please point me to them. In the meantime, what is the latest and greatest for say flaps that can extend 90 degrees and demonstrate longevity?

Regards...

I still use 1.7oz kevlar on the bias, this might help a little.

I've never had a hinge fail, but if you get carried away sanding you can weaken them.

Peelply; white nylon with a red marker stripe it's what all the top-end commercial manufacturers use. It's cheap too. Get it from a composites store, it's a common fabric.

Nylon fabric from JoAnnes is a little cheaper. They don't always carry it, but sometimes you can get lucky. Only use the white stuff, any colors or whatever seemed to make it not bond well.
