Tom and Rubio's Meteoric Adventure....!!!

Tom and I were very impressed with the Four Amigo's Meteor's at PSS 2013.
We asked if we could possibly get a couple a short kits.
Robert graciously laid up up a couple of fuse halves and canopies with some wing cores.
We will have to seam them and install the internal linkage.

This thread will chronicle that process.
Like the Amigo's we will build them together and fly them together.

Follow us on ...

Here is the beginning of our Adventure the fuse halves and the firewall template . Or at least that's what I call it. That's the first place to curve up the push rod.
We are going to use the 1/4 scale Black Gold - n - Rod.
I have to judge a contest.
First though I'm going to clean the PVA off Toms fuse so we can close the tail up tonight.

Cool, a new adventure begins! Thanks Robert, I'm so stoked!
I think "Rubio and Tom's" has a better ring to it, as I'll most likely be dragging behind you the whole build!

Tom

That one is beautiful Steve. I know it'll slow them down, but they look SO much better with a engines.

Yeah, but the wing we use is nothing like the scale wing and adding nacelles would not make them look any more like Meteors. I know it's a bit of a stretch to call them Meteors. But...

How about Meatiers?

Looking forward to watching this build guys!

Good time last night at Robert's house, Rubio picked me up and we headed over there. We got the tail blocks, fuse formers, and the elevator linkages installed in our fuses. Thanks for all your help Robert!
Thanks Russ, I'm stoked on this build, I think my other builds and repairs are going to slow down for a bit

Let's start the build.
After I packed away the contest and got some dinner. I picked up Tom and we headed over to Roberts. He had offered to show us the way to get the pushrod installed.
His shop was really Deluxe...!!!
We were both able to get the pushrods installed.
Robert was a big help here.
We made the rear wall out of some plywood. Sanded it to shape Then drilled a hole. Robert found us a drill the right size and we made a small block that holds it in the right position on the tail. Next we 5 minute epoxied them both in place with some to hold the rod.
The added a fillet of goop all round those area's to keep all it in place.
Thanks for having us Robert. It was lots of fun...!!!

Rubio

Thanks Rubio!
I'm off with the family for a drive, maybe towards ....Fermin?
I won't be able to fly, but would still be fun to maybe watch the races for a couple of minutes.
I don't remember, can I use West Systems epoxy to glue the tails together?

I just got home from Doho too. We were at the "Train Beach" having a campfire and roasting marshmallows. I'll be in S.J.C. Tuesday evening around 8:30.
