Steigeisen Lift

I just got all my components that were back ordered... is there a link to a build log anywhere? Getting ready to jump into it!

I haven't come across a Steigeisen Lift build thread on my searches but let's take it from here. I hope to be receiving mine in a week from now. Ordered directly from Stratair:

Mine will be a work in progress... I have questions with layout of components and ways to go about it before I secure them and shorten wires.... Tough to do with not knowing cg and such. I will try to ask the questions and see what would be the best way to get around them. I will take my time but it seems with the servos in the wing already and only two servos to install shouldn't be too long to get her airborne. I will be on vacation for the rest of the week but start at it hard next week....

Air Stormer,

Have you checked out Skip's site lately? I see a link on his Steigeisen Lift page to a nice instruction manual, and the recommended CG is 73 mm +/- 1mm.

Good Luck,
Paul

The link on the Skip Miller site is to the May 2009 instructions for what is now called the Steigeisen Race. (just finished 2 of them for the 2013 contest season) My guess is 73 mm would be a good place to start but be prepared to move it back. I fly my Races between 77mm - 80mm.

Yep...I noticed it was for the race model... Has the 4 servos mounted in fuse. I will just pick a number and go for it!

Hi Air.Stormer, how's your build coming along? I just received my SE LIFT and will try to get all needed components to start building it but unfortunately the wing came with some defects. I will be posting pics later on to get some comments/advice as on how serious they are.

Have sent an email with pictures to Logo-Team to get their word before I start building.

Also, on the right side where the peg should be located, it has a very particular bump (like a small air bubble) this means perhaps more epoxy on the area. Do you see something similar on your wing and have you already installed the peg?

I'm also looking fwd to get to fly it this next weekend. Here attached are the pictures of how the wing arrived. There's a very small crack on it, not visible on this pics. I'm sure it can fly but is not so cool to receive it this way.

Stratair Logo-Team send me a report so to be able to claim the insurance through DHL but I was told is not me the recipient who opens the claim but the one who payed for the shipping...

Few more pics are here:

advice

Hi again.

While DHL and Strata decide what is there to be done regarding the wing I decided to prepare the fuselage and need some advice regarding the already (factory installed) pushrods. They come in a very clean way, it took me a couple of hours on a Stobel to fish the teflon thread while here is just a question of shortening them to get to the servo horns.

I'm a bit puzzled cuase one looks carbon and the other one is steel(?). Also as you can see on the pics my servos are not yet linked so any advice before gluing the servo tray to the fuse is appreciated. (distance to front including battery pack and receiver is already measured).

Air.Stormer, how did you solved this one?

:)

Use the carbon rod for rudder and steel for the elevator. The elevator doesn't have much space and once you make the zbend and install the belcrank there's really no turning back and you don't want that to fail!!

Could anyone with a Steigeisen LIFT with "RDS" share the way to link the ailerons? I have received the 2009 manual but is for non "RDS" models... google img search shows RDS systems that differ from what I got on this wing; a 1.2mm L shape steel linkage that seems to require a horn but i'm unsure how to go about it since it needs to be installed on the inside.

I'm told by Stratair this:
"make a cut into the ailerons that you can install the CNC-servohorns"

--- edit:

extra aileron portion

Hi again, I head tomorrow for a maiden with the Steigeisen, will appreciate any advice regarding that extra aileron portion that can either be taped to the outside so to block it or to the inside, to the aileron so to add and make it longer.

Could someone comment on this portion of the wing and its reason to be there.

Thanks in advance!
