My partners and flying buddies from our SEMFF unclub have started flying NutBalls in a church gym. There were 4 or 5 flying last week and they seem very well suited to the rather limited flying space. We have even been thinking of some special events and team flying games to add to the fun. Flying these simple aircraft is crazy fun. They are so responsive and quick you can do complicated maneuvers in small spaces with just RET control.
15" dia. disc with an A1510 16g 2200 Kv motor spinning a 6X3 prop. With that prop it pulls 6.4A on very fresh 2S battery (5.0A with a 5X3 prop). 6A ESC and 2.5 g servos. All the gear is available from www.strongrcmotors.com even though only the motor and prop are currently on the website. Send an email or PM for information on the other stuff.
Picture is my first NutBall build. All MPF and mostly Bob Smith foam cure glue. The Fuse laminations are done with Glidden "gripper" and the wing polyhedral joints are GG. The joint angle was cut a bit off so I needed a glue that would fill the gap. The trim is heat shrinkable film that works really well on MPF. The film has a heat activated adhesive so you seal the edges with the iron and then shrink and seal the center areas. We are testing it and hope to be able to sell it with MPF. If you are ordering foam, and want to try some Model Plane Film, include a note with your order or use the contact us link to send an email. We have a good selection of colors including some with two color 1" checkerboard.
