I don't see this ever getting on the market. Just the gear alone is way to complex.

Man if I can pick one of these up at this size for $500 well then even though I would try my luck with the hobby shop.

The molds for Harry's model now belong to a modeler, known around these parts as BJ64.

One day BJ will finally finish the F-111.
Can not wait to see the final product.

It's actually one of Harry's fuze plugs, Dan.

The moulds are for the rear stab and tailfin.

I'm not overly happy with it - it's not what I was led to believe when I bought it. It's supposed to be the 1:10 Turbine version, though it's quite clearly the earlier EDF version. And it's not scale 1:10 either. The rear-end is modified - radar sidepods/exhaust tubes etc wander around anything down to 1:11.5.

It still looks like an F-111, but the rear-end and belly are totally non-scale.

Very disappointed with what I got.

I am tossing up whether to build a smaller version to learn from - can't make my mind up whether to go 1:16 (1.4m long), 1:14 (1.6m long), or 1:12 (1.9m long).

I'm leaning towards 1:14 - a 1.6m long bird would give it a decent presence in the air without being too big (and requiring a Turbine powerplant).

Haven't seen any updates on your build page for a couple of months now, Dan.

How's it all going?

I've been working on finalizing the wing pivot bearings. I tried ball bearings, but I wasn't happy with the the slop. So, I'm in the process of having custom stainless steel bearings printed by Shapeways.com.

I got the first one back yesterday, but for whatever reason the size was completely wrong. The center hole was too small as was the outer diameter.

I've redone the drawings and sent off for another sample, but it takes two weeks for them to print, then another week for shipping. This time, I've sent them three different sizes and whichever comes back correct is the one I'm going to use.

While I'm waiting I think I'll start working on the wing and tail feather designs.

Sounds good

Just printed a set of 1:16 bulkheads. Then blew them up to 1:14. Still can't decide which scale size to go for.

Mk 3 might be finding its way onto the scrollsaw soon (after all, it's only been like what - 5 years now? LoL).

Another different paint scheme found on the web. Its a combination of both used versions. SEA Camo and Dull boring grey. Hope you like it.

I've finally decided to go down the 1:14 scale route.
