Nothing major...just checking in with some some progress on the trim scheme. Got the painting done and my graphics (laser-cut from MonoKote).

Apparently my head has been in the sand for some time, I just saw this model. I love the sporty "Reno Retro"look to the design and it seems like an ideal fun fly / racer combo. How has EF1 taken off regionally? I'd love to get into this in terms of competition potential too.

Thank you Mike for the write up. Hope you are doing well in AZ!

Yes, I've flown the Proud Bird with the Rimfire 15. As electric sport planes go, it's still quite fast. I didn't measure it but I'd estimate about 10 to 15 MPH slower than the racing set-up or around 80 to 90 mph. It was a great combination for sport flying because it accelerates well and pulls through maneuvers nice with the bigger diameter prop. I flew it with a 3S 2200 battery and a 9x9 APC prop. For added duration, I'd suggest trying the 9x7.5. Wanted to try it more but got pressed for time. It would slow it down a touch but would add flying time for a given size battery. The bigger diameter prop also helped slow it down a bit for landing, again it would be even better with the 7.5 pitch. The cool part is, there's plenty of room for a bigger capacity 3s pack like around 3000 or 3300 for even more flying time and still be less weight than the racing setup. You'd enjoy it if you try it.

Sound cool, I think I will try, I have the setup from my cosmic wind and I can try 3S or 4S with it.

Thx,

Try a Hobby King 35-42 1000kv on 3 cells and a 9-7 apc prop and have some fun

I have PB and Cosmic Wind both with Rimfire .15 and 4s lipo. The CW is much faster and more responsive. My PB does a nasty snap roll to the right with full up elevator and moving CG doesn't help.
