i have been putting back about 3500-3800 after some very mild AP work on my Trex600. Flights are about 7-8 minutes. Yesterday, after an 8 minute flight, i put back 41??m. Is it reliable? Flight Power, 17 flights on it. How is the best way to test this battery and keep from ruining?

What makes you think what you did was bad. reccommedation are to use about 80% of the capasity,
5000 * .80 = 4000 MAH

41?? MAH is close I wouldn not worry about it your pretty darn close, However you do not want to be putting 4500 MAH or more in.

Don't worry. Factory actually specs the cells to 2.75V. They can usually handle a lot more abuse than what you have done to your pack.

thanks guys. this is only my second heli, first was cx2 blade. i ran that blade until it fell out of the sky, every day. i just don't want to 'drop' my heli & camera out of the sky. at 41??m, i don't think i'll go much more than the 8 minute mark. happy flying.

what's the SLOW discharge capacity ?

if 80%, YES, then its only good for salvage

I've had a few flights where I took 96% of my FlightPower 6S2P 5000 packs (I say "packs" becuase it happened perhaps 5 times and I have multiple packs so it wasn't all on the same pack) with no ill side effects. Generally try and limit your discharge to 80% of pack capacity if you can but this single incident isn't going to kill your pack.

If you want to test it, do what others have suggested and charge it up full, then discharge it using your chargers discharge function and finally, charge it again and note how much goes in. Divide this number by the capacity of the pack and that's the percentage capacity that it will still hold. Example, after a complete discharge I put back in 4,840 in a 5,000 pack, meaning it still holds 96.8% capacity, no where near the 80% mark I should discard it after...

You don't want to do that often.

Basically you did some damage to the pack, but very little.

According to Kokam, keeping the discharge less than 80% of capacity increases the pack life "several fold."

Thanks to all for the input. Amazing what these packs will take. i flew another 10 AUW yesterday for 8.5 minutes in moderate winds up to 200' and only put back 36??m. Same pack i flew 82% on the other day. This place is great...
