Hi i have a Kontronic Fun600-25 motor,I'm trying to find out the specs on it and there is nothing on their website.
I need to know the max voltage i can run in it

The Fun 600 series where rated for 50,000 rpm so working backwards from that gives at least 5s (~20v) possible.

I have run them at 70,000+ rpm so you could go a bit higher if you needed to.

Hi Dick, I was told that I could run 6s no problem with small prop

The rotor on em seems to be one peice with the shaft, its really cool machining/manufacturing. I still dunno how they are made Id think 50k rpm is VERY safe.

It took nearly two weeks but finally got a reply from Kontronic

• 2530 U/min/V
• 6-24 Zellen / cells
• 20-60A Dauerstrom / cont. current
• 90A 20 sec.

so i guess 6s shouldn't be no problem
all of you guys where pretty much right
now we come to the next question, how do i remove the Gearbox I'm using this motor in direct drive

6-24 is nimh talk

Gearbox is threaded onto front plate of motor, conventional thread (lefty loosey). Theyre often held on with loctite (heat helps lots)

A small oilfilter strap wrench works well, or you can thread screws into the front the gearbox (all the way in till they bottom out) and use them with a screwdriver jammed against them to get some leverage. Bench vice with softjaws makes it much easier.

Pinion is held on with loctite, heat and a small puller.

Try not to bust the box, KPG25/27s are cool things. Becareful not too loose bearings/planets and the retaining washer when it comes off

Once the pinion is finally removed you will be left with a very short stub shaft--so before you tear it apart be sure you can actually put a prop adapter on it....

I figured out that it was Nimh 24x1.2=28.8 that's why i said 6s should be fine

I was thinking about that Steve,I figured the only way i would know would be to pull it apart

What motors can you offer me with a similar KV?

The shaft will be only about 11mm long from memory so if that isn't long enoughfor your direct drive application it might pay to leave it together !

A 1409/1.5Y is close with a Kv of 2400. The standard version has a 5mm shaft which would be good for what you are likely to use it for.

Yup, the shaft will be very short. Also it's a waste of a good motor not using the gearbox.

I have run a FUN600-18 with 6.7:1 gearbox with 10S 1800mah Lipo and up to 18'' F5B props. Mine worked fine untill my biggest prop cooked this motor at well over 6KW. Remember that this motor is only about the size of a Neu 1509 and so it is better to stay below 5KW and/or do not run the motor to long each flight as the heat builds up. About 30 seconds total run time max at 5KW.

RPM wise, these motors can take more then a Neu. I've had mine up to 120.000 RPM at one point (a 3800KV Kira).

For this 2500 KV motor, you would need atleast 6S to get it up to speed. Best combo would probably be 8S 1800-2500mah with a CC ICE 100 Lite or 200 Lite. The prop size depends on the gearbox ratio. With 6.7:1 you could use RFM 16x17 slim for about 4KW but probably this gearbox is 5.2:1 so then RFM 14.5x14 already gives 4.5KW. Going cheap, you could use one of my 60 euro ESC's and 6S 2700-3300mah with an RFM 16x17 slim for about 3.5KW.
