The good old days when we had lots of real model magazines. Model Aviation, Model Bulder, Model Airplane News, Radio Control Modeler, Flying Models, and Sailplane. Only Flying Model still exist. The rest are either gone or have been slicked up and dumbed down with emphasis on color photos and little technical coverage or construction articles.

A bit of info about the Thunderbird.
My OFB Tiz had one that flew rather nicely.
I let go of a kit, one of those things that I will kick myself for whenever I think about it.

Hiya Joe (I've been waiting for 50 years to say that - ala Crazy Guggenheim).

Thanks for inviting me to post on this thread. For the reader who's not noticed, I'm logging the build of a Prophet 941 on the Thermal forum.

Here's the 1990 Davey Systems Corporation catalogue that was in the box - an 8-panel gate-fold pamphlet.

I bought the kit on ebay couple of years ago from an old timer whose eyesight was on the wane. Original packing included what I presume was the local West Chester rag from June 1990. Also included were:

• the building instructions - just first and last pages here - the latter listing kit contents
• an AMA application form with a neat glossary of modelling terms on the reverse
• a flyer for Bob Banks scale model research.

Just how the wing-loading figure in the catalogue was calculated - 6.5 oz./sq. ft. - is a mystery.
wing area: 941/144=6.5347
flying weight: 45 oz.
wing loading: 45/6.5347=6.8863 oz./sq. ft

I sold many copies of Hughes' book in my hobby shop back in the '70s.

It is a good book! Mine looks much worse for wear; the cover is wrinkled and weathered, and the spine is broken out on it but I still have it, and still refer to it occasionally.

I too sold many copies of this book, but in my Dad's hobby shop in Camarillo, Ca.

Nice. I have this book too, plus a bonus, an ancient kit of the Emira pictured on the front cover I snagged this year with a few parts and canopy a missing.
Should qualify for NOS.
However, I really doubt the stock spar system will handle modern winch w/ 300lb line regardless of how many super light taps.
