Hey LennyBoy,

Is that you fly'n the skycarts in these videos? I didn't see any announcement that you finally mastered the control of these.

I will start working on mine again soon, still yet to master it, but I am also slow with only a couple of attempts per year...

Got my kit last week and just got started yesterday. So far the build is easy except the foam halves of the base are not the same thickness. Not a huge deal, but requires some extra care getting the tops of the glue joint flat, and requires some shimming to get a good welders joint for the elevons.

Wheels are perfectly cut and go together.

I am making a snoopy cart, something about it seemed so familiar

Hi Lenny...Yes, I remember that detail, you would not fly like an airplane, but is super fun. Thank you.

Snoopy Cart Maiden

I finished up my snoopy cart and maidened it this morning. It was also my first keychain cam/hatcam video. Initially I had a hard time rog from the grass so I took off from the parking lot. No problems. What a fun project. It was a bit squirrely at first, but after dialing in some expo it behaved much better. I was able to trim it up later on and got it to rog from the grass.

I am building a Fancy Foam kit for the sky cart. There are some flat CF pieces. I am sure they are for support but I don't know where they are supposed to go. Is there a post or video that shows this? Also, there are two steel axles and two CF rod axles apparently. I am assuming that the steel goes in the front with the CF tube and the CF rods go on the elevons?

Any input would be great. Thanks.

motorhead is away at a fly-in so I called him for you to get the answers to your questions.

There are construction videos on the web site.
The wide carbon flat glues to the leading edge of the wing. The carbon tube is then glued to the carbon flat.
The narrow carbon flat glues to the trailing edge of the main wing ahead of the elevons.

You are correct about the steel and carbon axles.

I hope this helps (and I hope I got it right).

Thank you. The build vids I saw do not mention the flat pieces or the steel axles. In fact, it says they are cf rods.

I did the paint today so I am ready to complete the build.

Thanks again.

Sky Cart Construction

I need a little info on the construction of this cart?
I bought a kit from Mike at Joe Nall E-Fly last week end.
The instructions from Fancy Foam website are not very detailed??
Any help would be appreciated.

Please look at the videos on the construction first. Then you can ask specific questions. There are videos on the construction of the tires, graphics, and general construction of the cart. You can print some graphics from this thread. There is one wide flat CF strip. Glue it across the front of the cart. There is a thin CF strip. I glued that to the back of the cart on the lower edge of the bevel for the elevons.

I have not finished mine but that got me started. I am ready to mount the wheels on mine.

Took my SkyCart out for a maiden. We have a grass field. My first attempts a couple of weeks ago were not successful. I thought it may have been because I used a 1050Kv motor. I upgraded it to a 1600Kv.

The problem was getting off the ground. it seemed to be moving pretty fast but no lift off. With the new motor, I have the same issue but I was able to get it off the ground a couple of times.

My theory is that I a not getting enough air under the SkyCart. I also noticed that on high rates, the side rails would drag the ground some. I adjusted the middle rates to get the back as low as possible without touching to reduce drag.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem. I am thinking of trying a ramp to get it off the ground. I am also wondering if moving the CG farther back might help.

I thought the folks here might have some suggestions.

Thanks

Once I was airborne, I was able to fly fine.
