i'm Luca and i'm writing you from Italy. I received this model, the icona5 1,8m dz hobby, as present for my birthday!! I asked in italian forums for electronic suggestions but unfortunatelly nobody answered becouse this rc plane isn't so common here. I read great part of this thread, and i'd like to have comments about the servos and motor i was wondering to buy.

motor:

servos:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._12sec_9g.html

classic 9gr for the elevator and ailerons

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._14sec_22g.htm

those one more powerful for the landing gear and the rudder.

for the battery i plan to mount 3000mah 4s which i have already, while i was looking for a 60A ESC from HK ( probably this??? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...C_4A_UBEC.html )

as can be seen my main goal is trying to save money what do u think about this configuration?

thanks

Luca
I think a 4s setup is too small for this model. I am running a Turnigy G60 motor and 6S 4000-5000mah 40C packs. I am running 12gram metal gear servos for ailerons, flaps, and elevator, and a 17G metal gear for rudder. I have a servoless all metal retract in the nose, and a standard servo for the main retracts. If I want to operate off water, I simply remove the nose gear retract, and install a foam plug.

Hi Luca;
I have mine build more than 3 years ago and I don't remember what servos did I used for Ali, Elev.....but for sure I was water sealed the servos with silicon glue and O rings. Mine comes with a stock motor which runs on 6s lipo and 12 to 13" three blade prop. I used two 3000mah 3s lipo. For the front landing gear, it was a big disappointment for me, cause it broke on a not so gentle but nor crash landing. Hopefully they made it stronger now. suggest make the tail underwater Rudder a little bit bigger.

Yes, 3000mah 6s many not enought, at lease 4000 mah.
Also, you need to find a way to water sealed ur ESC too. One time, my ESC was cooked after the plane went upside down in the water.

thank you guys for the answers. actually i dont' want to mount super-powerfull components, even becouse i'm not inteded to spend so much money. So you think that the motor i posted is not good for my icon??
for what concern the waterproof i will use a sort of silicon too.
unfortunatelly i think that the front landing gear is still the same
