Equinox Electrics, Oct 4-5, Washougal, WA

For this event, we're adapting the format used in the famous electric meet in Aspach, Germany. This format provides a fun and safe venue for pilots to fly electric-powered aircraft in 5-minute time slots, while an announcer highlights the particulars of the aircraft. Windows of open flying will be provided also.

Dieter,

The FPM Field is in great shape for the Equinox Event ... not quite as green as in this picture by John Sherwood from the May 2003 Celebration of Silent Flight

I'll be bringing my trusty old 103" span B-17 (she is up to 18 lbs now, with the retracts, but still flies great), the 96" span Rogozarski, the G-OOFY autogyro and a few other flying things.

See ya there!

Fast Yeller is here

Attached is a picture of Daniel Schübeler's Vector II EDF jet, which he himself will demonstrate the event. Daniel will answer all questions about the plane and its bleeding-edge Lithium Polymer technology in such detail, you may be sorry you asked.
As is, the plane has a 1.2:1 power-to-weight ratio, so it's getting real small real fast no matter where you point it. We'll have Fred's Fleet with fake gas engines, and who know what all Airjer, Norm, Randy, etc, will drag in...

Deiter,

Just talking with AirJer...I plan to be there with what's left of my Fleet.

Hey - Maybe it's time to fly the Kadet Senior again...been two years. It now has flaps, as well as the ailerons. And of course, 21 cells to motivate it

Looking forward to seeing you again,

Terry

Dieter,
Looking at the picture.......is that a dirt runway? Is there also a grassy landing area?

Looking forward to a fun weekend!

Dieter, Old Wierd Harold is out of the picture. I've got the motor out of it, awaiting a Hacker to arrive. Everything else is a "go". I think I'll bring my Fournier RF 4 "bare bones" ready to cover, just for show and tell.

Good to hear you're all coming.
Terry, good to have you back; it's been a while...
Lenny, that's a rubber runway, some sort of conveyor belt material. You can take off and land your 22-foot Nimbus-4 on that or on the grass strips along both sides.
Fred, just as long as ol' Sparky makes it, I'll be happy...

See you there...

All systems go...

The last thing to line up was suitable weather, and we needed the jet stream to deal with an approaching frontal system from the Alaskan Golf. The jet stream is doing a great job of weakening, stretching and splitting that system, so we're looking at excellent flying conditions and temperatures in the 70s.

See you there...

Thanks Dieter, first class meet! I enjoyed the day of flying. Lots of great models flew with no mishaps. I was very happy to bring the Sky Baby back home in one piece! Looking forward to next year!

My sentiments as well. Much fun even though the sky was a bit grey. Hardly any wind and good flying all around. Daniels EDF sure was a blast to see fly.
Uh......can I get one of those too?
