Welcome to the forum

It's sort of liberating to get rid of it, isn't it? Mine saved me a few sets of blades I reckon, but after a while I felt it was hindering my hovering more than helping it, for I was always scared of catching a leg in the grass while hovering low down.

It is extremely liberating! Besides, I have found that those foam balls like to catch on the ground or the whole heli will roll down my driveway during spin up.

I am flying an Axe 400. It's my first heli although I have been flying fixed wings for a number of years, I have found heli's to be extremely gratifying and a fun new challenge!

I don't have a vid of my first flight without the gear, but here is one that was shot by my 5 year old just two days ago.

Thanks guys and enjoy!

The rain let up just long enough for a couple quick flights. Thanks again for my awesome camera-boy Jacob!

You need to get up about 2 - 3 feet and do it much quicker to get out of ground effect air. It will be a lot more stable. Just an FYI: The Axe 400 was the last good heli HeliMax sold, using mostly Futaba electronics.
