I don't know about that... I have had quite a bit success running a little bit higher kv's

Here's 4S at 3300kv

T-50 70mm edf jet remaiden (4 min 2 sec)

Here's 5S at 2500kv

LX F-22 Cyclonepower 2500kv Changesun 70mm edf jet remaiden 02-25-12 (2 min 38 sec)

LX F-22 Changesun 10blade edf #2 02-25-12 (3 min 5 sec)

And here is 6S on 2500kv

My next setup will be 2200kv HET2w-30's on 6S

But they are not 'sweet spot' results... those are all big amp eaters.... and need 'big' motors (costly).
Those are all 'high power' combos.
(5S 2500kv cyclone as I had mentioned - prob Amps into the 60's).

6S 2500kv... if it was the Cyclone, it won't last too long. (Well, lifespan is a lucky dip thing then)
That would have to be 6S Amps around the 70 area! More Watts than that motor will like dealing with.
But probably over 2.0Kg bench thrust... 2.2Kg.. more??? And then.... how much of that gets OUT of the plane anyway?
Hmmmm... F-22... fans probably well down the rear... at least more likely to get the best OUT.... if it has enough air IN also.

Hmmm.... I am thinking about getting one of those Cyclone 2550kv's to test out.
At worst they would be "a very good motor" really. For 5S. (and 5S is my most common combo for 70mm - all cases really)
I wouldn't really want to risk the $44 on 6S though.

ok yeah I see your point... I pretty much go for sound and performance, not so much flight time/efficiency... but when you are running a heavy airframe like the f-18, you need to tap into that power... the f-22 is a much much lighter airframe which is why 5S on the 2500kv seems to have somewhat the same performance. One thing about the lx f-22 airframe though is that it seriously acts like a silencer, especially when using the cs rotor. on my youtube channel, I have a video, where I am running the cs rotor with the dynam 3000kv motor from a downed meteor that I had. I ran it on 5S and while the plane seemed to have loads of power and would just continue to climb if I wanted it to... it was extremely quiet, the only time you heard it is on take off... I would post the video, but there's like 3 and a half minutes of me just talking... before the take off

The Dynam motors are quite good, for their cost. I call that one an 'average' motor - maybe 'a bit above average'. (for its cost and size). Well down on a Cyclone or HET.
But a CS10 on 5S 3000kv would be smoking!! hehe
Highly inefficient, and hot. That would kill the Dynam motor in a short term.
They last quite well on a 5-blade fan doing that 5S, but a CS10 is a lot more load.

The CP2500s fly on 6s with this fan, just don't go over 3000 watts of steady out on them...

ESC is a little low on the amps...see if you can find a 90 - 100 amp esc to give you some head room

Good move. I use the same setup but with an HK SS 90-100 Amp ESC.

Expect to see 85-90amps with that battery.
That Zippy is a very good value for money. Only minus is 1C charge rate and the balance wires which are hard and you have to take care bending them around or they will snap off the battery.

I fly this setup in the same size Mig-15.
