Lockheed Yo3 Quiet Star

Take a look at this. all you RTF makers out there.
Lots of room for a camera. Real character, and an airplane
considered a warbird
Make it with retracts, and buyers will line up.
I like a lot of RTF's I see, but there needs to be some new ideas
I think you will agree

It does have Schweizer 2-32 wings... sort of.
In my slopeheaded view, it would make an interesting PSS glider. But then you'd have to lose that beautiful work-of-art propeller.

I see the Altus UAV in the background of that picture. That would probably be a good scale glider for the slope too. I have trouble getting past the prop on the nose of the Yo3.

This would be a similar canadate for PSS...the Grob Egrett. Heck, with those wings, it'd probably thermal pretty well, too.

Yoyo

Hi Guys,
I misted this one from the very beginning.
Being in Antwerp Belgium this was not so easy to get the good info, but the net is working well....
I have been gathering information about it the last 4 to 5 years.
With the last bits of the puzzle being prepared to send over soon, I am working on a scaled drawing to build a big model. Being 207" span and 106 " length, a G38 with a 1/3 reduction will run the model turning a 30 x 18" prop...
That is the plan...
First the SF27M with Milan, also a double project must be ready! Wings are the same on these two models. The Milan is the RF4 fuselage with the SF27 wings...
See under: http://scalesoaring.co.uk/cgi-bin/ya...num=1376298479
The Yoyo or YO-3A is for me also a double project with the SGS 2-32.
The wings and the aft wing tail plane are more or less the same on both models.
A few changes were made but these are easy done.
For now enjoy a few pictures of the real one now in the Seattle museum I think...See where the camera could go...
See also their site under: http://www.wmof.com/yo-3a.htm
I will post this building on this site!!!
Grts,

Man oh man, those are some exotic birds.

The canopy for the the Y0-3 would be easy to make ,
a piece of plastic tacked to sticks, that you heat over
your stove and pull down over a mold glued to a wine bottle

I fly my powered glider on the slope frequently,
DG 1000 from Tower Hobby, no prop out front,
but popup power keeps me off the rocks.
Have been flying it 3 years and like it so much I bought a 2nd one

Depending on the scale of your project,
I could carve a 3D plug for the canopy on my CNC from
Basswood or balsa blocks.

I can do ~ 6" in Z axis.

I can also do the 3D surface in Rhino IF I can et canopy dims.

I did the Horten VII canopy , motor inlets and T=deck for cpdude some yrs back.

Canopy

Hi Bob,
this would be a nice to do job...
However the canopy is very, very big and has a special shape as well.
The main thing to do would be the canopy. The model stand or falls with it.
28 x 12 x 11" (L x W x H) and, it's a bubble one see pictures...
This is one of the first things to sort out before starting the building.
I was thinking due to the mid braze to build it n two parts. The real one is blown to fit...it think...
All advise with pictures how to, would be welcome here...

Canopy BASE dimensions as well as Front and Rear mating former shapes and angles
will be necessary.

It does appear that the canopy is somewhat over blown beyond the fuse sides.

I don't have a vac pulling system at this time or experience to use it or stock.

I was talking about making the plug for you or someone else to pull from.

Cpdude has his own equipment when I made the Horten VII plugs.
