They were purchased HL boxes with steel gears. I tried others, but they didn't stand up to the brushless motors. These do. Try ETO.com the last ones I got were from Phil.

Hi Herman

Reg. the all metal gearboxes with brushless motors. Do they have to be brushless motors? Could you not use brushed motors?

George,

Yes, you can use brushed motors. The brushless motors were easier for me to obtain and have better power and smaller size than the brushed ones. I also used Li-Po batteries where you can use any type that matches your motors and ESC's, they do not have to be Li-Po's.

ETO is based in Europe and is not a Japanese company. Good guys and have a distributor in NJ that sends out the US orders.

From your Torpedoe build, the brushless tail rotor motor, do oyu remember it`s specs? What kind of RPM`s did it have at max.?

Hi George,

The tail motor is not brushless. It is the replacement motor for the tail of an RC helo that I got off the wall at my local hobby shop. I'm sorry, but I do not remember which one or the specs for it. It does operate on a 1s Chiclets size Li Po.
