Looking for NUE 1115 1Y setups

What are you guys running? I just maidened my X-Plane yesterday with a NUE 1115 1Y. I am really interested in prop and battery combos. I liked the way it flew . It had very poor acceleration. All out speed not bad. 1:10 min run time. Motor temp 130 and ESC 125 with out side temp of 100 so I was happy with the temps.

Battery 4C 1800mah 65C Dinogy next will be trying the 5C soon
ESC Phenix125
Prop 4.75 x 4.75 4C I planning 4.1 x 4.1 5C

Hotlining - a setup with some wiggle room up.....1115/1Y 6.7 P29 6S 16x17S TONS of fun! You can either go up a bit with prop or to 7S for

Good info. This is what I am looking for. My first set up in this plane was a 1112 1.5 with a p29. 4C with a 16/17 it worked, but the 17/18 melted in literally 2 seconds. The motor is back for service and I will be swapping for an X PLUS appropriate set up. I just ran the numbers with your set up and I am getting execedance on watts, voltage and temp on 6s. I know that bursts help with all of the above, but how do you get this set up to work? I am not doubting that it does work, I am just new to these planes and am trying to understand.

Those numbers are great Bro! But if I remember....don't quote me on this...cause the grey matter has begun to solidify....the amps were a little bit lower in 6S and right about what that says on 7S. If you are hotlining the motor is only on for 4seconds or so then off till you bleed off all the speed then light the afterburner again. In all honesty I won't even look at a combination that doesn't hit the warning bells with those calc's. The key is throttle management...I cut a small vent in the front and put an exit to exhaust the air just behind the ESC.

Around 3000 if I recall correctly, maybe perfect for an x plus, seeing a pic of a 6s pack in it makes me wonder

I am a heli guy and castle governors work best at 120% recommended speeds. I am just not familiar with how much over is ok. Here is what I ran and it melted in 2 seconds. I bought it thinking that it was a reasonable set up. Every one I have talked to ask far tells me it is ridiculous. This is what started lead me to stop taking short cuts and to look at the calculators. Do you guys think this is a viable setup? I flying in 90-100 degrees which does not help the cause.

Did you buy that motor new or used? The higher kv smaller can (shorter) motors will take less than a larger diameter or longer can motor. Lower kv, higher voltage, less amps is the way to go if you can go that route.

Is not ridiculous. But still a few more factors to consider. Do you know how your esc is set up and did you use a twisted spinner, which rfm 17x18 too, how did your battery go, seems small, but if the c rating is good? How heavy is your plane? And how do you fly, switch\throttle\ramp?

The plane was profesionaly built so servos wires were shortened and ESC was re wrapped to save weight and the battery is small. I don't know weight but I would say light to average for an XPLANE. RFM slim with 0 twist on hub. The ESC was also set up buy the builder with a ramp. I am not used to flying with a switch so I using the throttle stick. The motor smoked as the plane left my hand. I will be going with a 15... series if possible for the next plane.

I switched gears and have gone pylon style for now. I have just seen a few videos of the 1115 1Y with a 4.75 x 4.75 and a 4.1 x 4.1. The acceleration is slow which I assume to be standard for these small props which is why I want to go 4.75. That and all out speed

Any recommendations/ experance with this combo?

With a 16x17 prop on 4S you'd be pulling about 150A. A 17x18 prop would be higher current.
Either way, you're over the controller's continuous current rating. This is a hotliner setup that must be used with full throttle only.

Doesn't matter if motor is on a switch or stick, you just can not run it at part throttle.
If you did use part throttle I would not be surprised if the ESC smoked, but it would be odd that the motor would have burnt.
