tug weight

Anyone have an idea of what are the approximate un-ballasted weights of the invader or darby or pono tugs are?

They are in the neighborhood of 25-35lbs. Depending on how you build it, number of functional options, and motor size/gear box.

A "Mr. Darby" weighs 60 - 62 lbs, at the "LIGHT displacement" waterline, otherwise, 65+ lbs. There is a good reason, some of us do not have boats like those listed above!

My Darby when ballasted comes in at around 48 pounds. My invader will be at about 80 lbs when ballasted. The Ponos I have seen seem to be around the 40 lb ballasted weight. Empty or ballasted, they can get heavy real fast.

My invader seems to get heavier by the day when I am home. Hopefully in a few weeks it will be float tested to waterline and I'll get you a total weight then.

What waterline are you going for? As with tugs, how much fuel and other gear is on board, makes a BIG difference, on how deep it sits in the water.

I was looking for the empty weight of the model. I dont mind making 2 trips up the basement stairs to the car. 1 trip with the battery and as much removable ballast as possible in a depot pail and next trip with the boat. The back isnt what it used to be.

I understand that problem, that is why, the 12'', under 4 lbs, Truckable Towboat, was conceived. I can go run a boat, or attend a contest, without having to lift or carry anything that weighs very much.
