We got our Slow Stick today, it is a bit different from what we
are used to building.

Any important tips I need to know?? I don't really want to read
184 pages before we start??

They have options for about every thing,, Glue the fin on?
Get some plastic, drill some holes and bolt it on?

We have a Powerup 400 sport motor and a 20a ESC. Lots
of 1300, 1800 batteries and all kinds for props. E55 servos.

Any help will be appreciated. And get you back on the Christmas
list..

If you're using the Power Up 400 (sport) motor. I recommend a 9X4.7SF prop. All the batteries you mentioned will work very well with that motor and plane. As will the servo's.

As for the build.... I've only had the older "thinner" style.

Thanks a lot for the info.. We have several 9X4.5SF props.
Also 8X4, 8X5, 8X6. We will just play with what we have
an see if we need to order more.

Does any1 know the link to the 34in gws p-51 build thread????

I'd like to glue the fin on instead of bolting it on. Be reminded that the newer thicker foam is not as tough as the older thinner one. I did carefully penetrate a piece of bamboo skewer as a dowel, about 4" long, from the horizontal stab into the fin for my buddy. Two pieces of toothpick work the same instead if you could not find out the bamboo skewer over there.

Yep, that's what helps her fly straight when the motor is cranking away in flight. You typically want 2 to 4 degrees of down, and a couple of degrees right to start with, and then you "fine tune" it until you get it where you like it.

I made a crude drawing with "paint" to give you the basic idea of how it would look with down and right thrust angles.

That's because, if my memory serves me right, the Square Tube where you insert the Motor/Gearbox assembly should have the needed angles already, unless of course the model has been crashed and then, you need to provide some yourself. Don't ask me why I know!!

I tried to use the bendable aluminum mount way back when. They would just bend out of shape when nosed in.

Now I don't bother with offset and it flys just fine. It's easy to trim out any quirks.

Put ailerons on it and you will have a plane you can fly and not have to "coach" it around the field.

We got the recommended aluminum mount for it, Off set the holes
a little to get a bit of down.
The "fuselage" is about done. Need to get the wing done to get
the CoG right and then get every thing mounted for good.

There seems to be a lot of extra in the kit. All the little screws in
the wing spar package?? The clear parts seem to be for several
planes.

And, this thing is a lot bigger than we thought it would be...

We have left the control rods uncut so we can move the servos
if needed. Do you glue the mount things in place once you
have the CoG set, or will they stay put as is??

Once I decide on the CG I put a dab of hot glue on fuse at the wing braces and servo holder. It holds well and is easy to remove.
