Hi all, newbie here. Just wanted to see if anybody else here has a Newport 12? I have hull #730 that I just put a new varnished mast into, along with some new Carr white (non-laminate)sails. They are awesome boats, though a little tough to manuveor through my small house

some people post up on your class boat .
Are you aware that on the AMYA website ( www.modelyacht.org ) they now
have a chat forum ? there is a tab on the menu bar - you can register as you
do in any of these sites... anyway within the forum there is a heading that
includes individual AMYA class boats , and yes there is one for Newport 12s .
Nothing has been posted yet , but that forum is very new still .
You could also drop in at Windpower ( www.rcsailtalk.com) and see if anyone
wants to discuss N12s .
In Yahoo there is a group called "Newport12Meter" but I don't think it is
very active,but the archive is open so you can go and read the posts there.

When building the new spar, the hardest part was not to jab it into the basement ceiling when hanging it up after varninshing. I got 6 coats on and was going to do eight, but the sixth one turned out flawless so I said leave well enough alone.

The only short coming of this boat is the size, which I new when I made the decision to go big. My house is pretty tiny, and moving it through it can be a challege. Next, house will have a room with a cathedral ceiling so I can have it rigged for display. Right now it banished to the basement by my new bride (at least the basement is finished).

Hey, What are you doing with a N12 in NY? Just kidding, I'm in Virginia and have one and am still building it, tho I dont know who built it or what hull # is. Cant wait to get it sailing. I had to find all my own materials and parts, made my own mast, and will cut my own sails. Since there is no N12 class racing here, I am making a taller mast and will have extra channels, jib trim and maybe a twitcher. Good luck and fair winds!

Hanna boats was the one stop spot for N-12 everything, he relocated overseas temporarily and shut the site down for now. Pondboats or yachts still builds them, though I think they used Hannah hulls and just finished them with their own decks ect. I don't know if I agree with larger mast , as the boat sails very well with class mast, but who am I to judge, post some pics.

Hi, Yes, I looked up Hannah and then they shut down, LOL, any connection? Well, there is someone else who makes them, though right now I can't find it.
Anyway, I found plenty of parts on Midwest and Sailsetc, and ebay. I've got plenty of parts, tomorrow snow! Just have to start again later. Here's a couple of mine...........first one is my AC boat and then N12

My family came through at Christmas time with a new set from Carr, what a great set of sails Rod made!
