9C slider detents?

Are the detents of the side sliders supposed to be quite recognizeable, or just barely felt?

My (used) radio beeps at the center position, and there is a very slight detent, but it sure would be nice to have solid centering. If they are prone to wear, is it an easy task to replace them?

Also, is there a way to set a switch to disable the sliders at will? I have flaps on the left and full span camber on the right, and sometimes (usually when a hand is briefly removed to say, adjust my hat, and returned) I bump the slider and get a wildly unanticipated reaction. It'd be nice to hit a switch to disable it (like I have with the crow on throttle stick).

The left has a bit more of a detent, can feel it, but the right is barely perceptible.

Anyone replaced one before?

I have not taken notice of a center detent. I have used the beep to help me find center.

Wish it was a great big honkin' tight detent.

Also wonder what a brand new one is supposed to feel like as designed (not worn out).

I use my left slider mostly. has a rachet and a solid center detent with a beep.

My right slider has hardly been used at all. Rachet is very stiff with a solid detent and beep center.

The detents on my 9303 were really lame. I would move them around without knowing. I opened it up and deepened the grove the detent rests in. Now they stay put when they're supposed to.

aeajr...from other threads, I know you have several radios, but i'm curious how you went from not noticing the 9c had a detent, to it then having a solid detent? ("everyday radio" weak detent vs "occasional radio" or the like?)

The 9C was my first true sailplane radio. Then I had 2 of them. Then I upgraded them to 9C Supers.

One does not take notice of things like detents after years of use. But the thread caused me to actually go, pull the radio out of the bag and check, which resulted in my latest post, correcting my eariler comments.

Reminds me when I took my own car to my own dealership bodyshop to get some deer-impact damage fixed, and when i got it back (after a few days of a rental car) there was a strange noise. They/I thought it was something and "fixed it" within the insurance claim. But it was still there, so I traced it myself and it was something totally separate and so unrelated to any sort of impact, and was just something I had grown so accustomed to within my own vehicle driving 500 miles a week.
I would have sworn on my newborn that my car didn't have that noise prior to driving an entirely different (rental) vehicle for almost a week...we humans get lulled into routine so easily!
