Hobbyking Freeflight F-18 Hornet w/Catapult Launcher 360mm Span

I've been thinking about the range of small foam-balsa HK free flight Models look quite nice

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ht_Models.html

I liked the look of the Freeflight F-18 Hornet w/Catapult Launcher 360mm Span

So i got one (had some weight to use up on an order) only $3.85

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...60mm_Span.html

Specs:
Wingspan: 360mm
Length: 455mm

Does this sound ok to you guys

Parkzone Vapor/Ember Brick 3.30
Parkzone UM P51 Motor 5.17
Parksone Mustang Sukhoi Gearbox weigh 1.2g
GWS 5043 Prop 1.59

Power set-up will be a mid pusher prop, with elevon set-up on rear elevators

I have heard that the Parkzone Vapor/Ember Brick (green dot) has a 2A fet and can handel a Parkzone UM P51 Motor (Not sure) but can you guys conferm please?

Also heard that the Vapor/Ember Brick (green dot) can be programed to elevons with my DX6i Can you guys conferm on this also please)

Took the nose weight off and got a reading of 44.6g with the (prop motor-gearbox and brick and parts) on my Digi scales.

Do you think this is an OK weight for flight on this set-up ??

Add will it fly ok on rear elevators ? Looks OK to me on paper ! What do you think Guys ?

richos,
You'd be better off with a Cub or Champ brick, those have the 2 amp esc. The Vapor/Ember/green dot may only be 1 amp.

As far as elevons on a Dx6i, that maybe a problem. Some have had to flip the brick around or have one rod on top and the other on the bottom to get proper control directions. I don't recall and I no longer fly spektrum.

Looks like it'll be a cool plane, what's the wing loading and power loading?

This might help with the elevon mix. I have your proposed Brick in my Airhogs X-Twinn Stunt Jet using the green dot brick with elevons. This is from 2009 and controlled by a DX7 TX. Important to limit throws to 50% for aileron and elevator channels, as they add together at the RX resulting in 100% throw when used together.

Thanks mcross for that info not got a Cub or Champ brick to spare, but have a spare AR4600 .So will have to go the Spektrum AR6400 brick and AS2000 servo option (a more trickier set up than the Cub Champ or green dot brick setup) im sure that ive seen the Spektrum AR6400 brick and AS2000 servo elevon set-up on rear elevators with the DX6i and think its possible to do .

Have any of you Guys had good results with the Spektrum AR6400 brick and AS2000 servo elevon set-up on rear elevators with the DX6i ?

Thanks mcross did not want to risk blowing the FET on my green dot brick running a Parkzone UM P51 Motor.

You can do it with the champ/cub brick you just have to pay attention when your building it.
The AR6400 w/servo will have the same requirements, it's a transmitter problem.

You need to plan brick, servo and horn orientation so your controls are in the right direction. The 6i relies on swapping servo connectors to get proper control direction, not possible with a brick.

There is also a long thread on a bug in the 6i elevon programming, but there is a workaround.
