Goldberg's new Chipmunk

Seen some pics of the new Goldberg Chipmunk. Neato!!! Something that I've been looking forward to about getting. According to some sites, the plane is to be roughly 21 oz AUW. However, I have a Park 400 brushless w/himax gearbox brand new waiting for a home. I have enough foamies already and don't really want another "flat plate 3D" style of plane.
I also like the new great planes Lancair but, according to them, its 26 to 32 oz. in weight. They are saying a geared 400. Fine if its 26 oz. But if the model winds up closer to 32 oz., I feel the plane will be a slug with a geared 400. Unless you throw a 400 brushless outrunner in it or, you go with a 480 geared setup.
Its killing me because I haven't bought a plane in 3 months!!!
And, its not nice to let a new brushless motor sit in a box unused!! I already have a mini funtana which flies well on a himax 2025-4200 setup. I think the chipmunk would make a nice "hangar mate" so the funtana won't get lonely.
If I'm not mistaken, Tower is gonna sell the 'munk at around $89. Same price as I paid for the mini funtana. Any one else looking at the new 'munk and new Lancair?

I'm getting the Chipmunk also. Just waiting for it to be released!! It's killing me! I hope they stick with their due date and don't postpone it. The Lancair is nice too, but I want the Chip more.

I plan on using a Himax 2025-5300.

The Chipmunk has been showcased at Toledo back in April or May. Been advertised ever since, a lot lately but not out yet. Scheduled release date Mid-November.

The Lancair looks absolutely magnificient, flies real well on the GP site video clip. Scheduled release date was Oct 20. I have ordered one but did not receive it this week.

I was at the club field yesterday since it was in the low 60's temp-wise and no rain. A bit breezy but a bunch of guys had flat foamies and electric heli's.
I had brought my glow powered Tiger 2 and my FMA Razor just in case the wind decided to throw a bit of muscle into our plans. Anyways, one member had his 60 sized Lancair out. Man what a beauty!!!!!! If the E version is anything like the bigger 60 size, you'd be in for a treat with this plane.

The Chippy looks simply awesome. It should fly well, even if a tad portly.

Already got it backordered. Will post pics when it arrives and I can get my hands on it... Always the issue with conditional gifts!

If it's anything like the Husky, I don't thik it will be a problem to soundly beat the published AUW... I had a chance to fondle the Husky at my LHS - looks great and feels lighter than the published weight...

Tell me about it (or don't ) . I wanted the Chipmunk from day one. My Lancair has been ordered for a while, GP has now pushed back the release date to December the 31st.

Good thing I picked up a Scorpio Raven while HL had them on sale... It will keep me occupied until Christmas. Say what you want about start-up's, but places like Hyperion that don't announce products until they are on the way to their distributors have the right idea. Endlessly pushed-back dates do nothing to help generate consumer interest (GWS anyone?).

On power systems, I have better results with geared setups and since the chippy comes with a stick mount already in place (according to the manual, go download it from www.carlgoldbergproducts.com) I'll stick with a 150-180watt geared setup. All of CatchmyCorsair's options look good though...

Personally, I really want to try one of the 4800kv motors from awlhobbies... See the specs here. They are listed in his ad as 3800kv, which is a labeling mistake in his batch of motors. Looks promising for $25...
