not quite simple 75" B-29

This is my project from the last week or so. I was going to make a simple profile B-29 like my combat B-17's, but it got out of hand quickly!

It is powered by twin out runners, runs off two 1300 3cells, and even though it has a 75" wingspan, it tips the scales at no more than 1.35lbs. The outside nasals are dummies, and the props just free spin. It's set up for hand launch and belly landing, and I hope to maiden it Sunday. I still have to cover it and paint it. I'm going to use tissue paper and glue to cover it, I just need to have a paintable surface.
Should be fun.

Well the darn thing flies! Took it out a few weeks ago to try and maiden it, but one of the speed controllers crapped out while bench testing. So I replaced it, and tried again. Had a friend toss it for me and away she went. Flew real nice and scale, and for a good 8-10 minutes. Looks scale too, and the funny thing is it even SOUNDS scale! The two outside props are dummy engines and just spin in the wind, but the fit kind of loose on the wooden shafts and vibrate while the spin. Oddly this sounds quite similar to a couple small 4 stroke engines, and really "feels" real as it goes by.
I haven't gone though the video from the flights, but my friend did post a vid of him chasing me with an f-14. I hope to have it covered and painted by the weekend.

unedited, and kinda out of focus, but this was the maiden. My wife does her best with a camera, but she was a little off that day.

B-29 went in hard Sunday. Long story short right side motor failed to do its part and it went in tumbling. I tell you what, it looked pretty cool though.
On to the next one, bigger and better.
RIP.

to bad I never got it painted.
