Quick Overview of Event:
If enough people show interest we will organize a group to visit Francis Peak on Thursday. Those of you that have never visited this location will want to check it out. It is our high elevation alpine soaring site with the most beautiful view you can imagine paired with ridiculous thermals and grassy landings. Since many use Monday as a travel day we want to offer a organized visit to this site on Thursday too. Please check the box if you are interested.
At Friday Aerotow we will have Dominos Pizza out there early taking lunch orders and delivering the food in hot boxes at lunch time. There will be Tow planes and winches available for all registered pilots to use. This is another unique part of the Soar Utah Experience. The Flight park is an old dried up lake bed giving a perfectly smooth runway in any direction and some nice thermal activity as it heats up. If you are bringing anything with landing wheels or a motor, this will be the place to fly it.
Saturday will be back on the Point of the Mountain and we will have F3F timers and MOM light system set up for those interested. There will be open fun flying all day on the entire West side of the mountain. Subway will be on the mountain early taking order and delivering them back to the slope for lunch. As always we will be doing a Slope Scale judging contest with static display in the evening. The Banquet dinner will be in the tent that evening and will include burger, hotdogs, sides and plenty to eat for all.
If the F3F and PSS MOM is popular we can continue racing as pilots desire on Sunday. This day is dedicated to Fun Flying at Point of the Mountain. There are no options for lunch so everyone must fend for themselves.
For Monday we will be meeting early and heading out for Francis peak. Or you are welcome to hang around the Point of the mountain for another day of epic sloping. The road to Francis peak does not require 4 wheel drive or a high clearance vehicle but it will have plenty of washboard and lots of dust.
We do encourage everyone to camp on Point of the Mountain. There is no running water but there are restrooms available. Due to fire danger no campfires are permitted.
As always the schedule is weather permitting. If the Wind direction turns north there will be no MOM or F3F available. However, the North winds due offer Dynamic Soaring on the North Ridge but you must hike to get access to this site. Please come prepared with good shoes and plenty of water if you would like to visit our DS site.
Everyone remember to come prepared with clothing. Grantsville site and Point of the Mountain are normally dry and hot but Utah is known for extreme changes in weather. It can get cold and wet on a very short notice. Francis peak is a high alpine location and is above 10,000 ft. We have even seen snow at this site during the days of the event so bring some layers just in case.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

I booked my lodging a year and a half ago.....
Ok, it's at my mother-in-law's near Francis Peak.
After Soar Utah I will be continuing south to Southern California for a two week family vacation. We're planning at least 4 trips to the beach for the kids, maybe more. I'd like to fly at least once or twice while I'm down there. Which beaches would be fun for the kids and also have good sloping? I'll be leaving most of my planes in Utah during the vacation because there just isn't room in the mini van, but should have room to bring a couple down.
