Just wanted to share.
Unboxing the DFHT.
Beautiful mounted in a environment friendly recycling box ready to mount on the goggles just a piece of servo-tape needed.

I know i brake the warranty but i wanted to see what was inside the box.

Cant wait to try it out.

Nice to see you received it already
It's a quick and dirty test-version, but it should definatly work and be plug-n-play with your FF9.

Thanks for sharing.

It sure is just tested it, plug-n-play it is.

Pan going the wrong way, and center positions need adjustment, need to try the programming out now.

One thing, when moving HT very slowly, the servos work a little nervously shaking, mowing, in very small steps, but fast from step to step, M:I:G. do the same but TracR2 don't it moves the servos smote and nice.
It is not a big deal, and it sure is very usable as it is, just not totally perfect.

Going to play with it later today.

BUT IT DONT DRIFT

Weather forecast says flying weather day after tomorrow i cant wait.

Sounds weird, I haven't noticed that on my test-rig.

You can play a bit with the lowpass-filter settings, that will make the movement more smooth. As default the lowpass-filter is more or less off.

I'll test when I get a new headtracker rigged up - I'm sure we can improve that

Dennis,

An imu with same chips except with a BMA180 triaxial accelerometer could be easily adapted to this HT?

I ask because I found an imu in EU (delivered 2 days after) instead of HK (delivered 1 month later).

Shouldn't be any problem
But the axis might be inverted compared to the module I have used - can be a little tricky.

I tested with both Hyp Atlas digi and HS82 analog and it is the same, it looks like it move wherry fast from step to step and overshot a little make the cam a little shaky, i usually adjust the digital to move slower but if it is running full speed its is not good, the analog is running just a little smoother.

Just hooked op another sensor-board.
Turns out one axis at the magnetometer have a pretty big offset, that have to be dealt with/calibrated.

I noticed a slight variation with the previous board that I couldn't explain, but I didn't expected it to be necessary to set offset and gain on the magnetometer.

I will look into self-test and calibration of magnetometer asap - should fix the problem

Did some more testing, the jittering i have, is not coming from the DFHT its is a combination of TSLRS using not to many steps and my Hyperion Atlas Digital servos very fast reactions.
I am having trouble with downloading and installing a driver so until now i cant do anything adjusting, its is me who are PC an alphabet.

But the only thing i really wanted to adjust is the center on both axes, but i can just look a little off center when powering DFHT up so tomorrow flying and testing in the real world, weather looks fine all day, hopefully with many thermals.

It don't drift

Not quite sure I understand what you mean? You can just use it as a control for the plane, tricopter etc. if you want?

I plan to test it for controlling a tri-copter, should be great fun

Dennis are you sure i can plug the HT in both USB and my F9 on the same time, i get light in the red light diode on F9 with out turning F9 on, i am afraid to push 12V back in the USB and let the smoke out somewhere.
