The rec is below the motor and batteries. The ESC we are using
recommends a separate bec or battery for 4s and up.
The dowels are epoxied to the bulkheads, all the way across.

I work neat!

It has been a few days, but I have been busy. Got a lot of help with
the covering. Got some graphics ordered. Everything is on but the
windows and wing tips. Battery 1" back from the firewall. No added
weight. Very slightly nose heavy.. Perfect! It is nice when it comes
together right. All the measuring, checking, calculating pays off.

My biggest boo-boo was the fairings on the fin. I put them on the
wrong sides. I had one on before I saw what I had done and it
was too late. It was covered, and CA'ed in place. The square end
is to the front and the tapered end is, wrong! BTW, what looks like
a mess in the cover is a reflection of the LED work light over the
table. The cover is smooooooooooooooooth there.

Windows are in, wing tips are on. some graphics on. The rest of the
graphics should be here Monday or Tuesday. I have put it up so
Brad can work on his Air Trails Sportster. See "Building"!

All the controls are working, need a final adjustment. New radio will
be here tomorrow. There will be two versions programed for it.
A three channel version, and a four channel version. Both will
have flaps. Also the rec is in and the rec battery is mounted.

Very nice, Kimber. My first aircraft was an Eagle II I built around 1990. My Eagle has balsa stick pushrods. I had a .46 glow motor on it and it was very fast for a trainer. Even though there is some self-righting with the dihedral it is not near as forgiving as something like an Easy Star and can quickly get away from you. I never flew mine as a 3 channel and perhaps it might be more forgiving but you might still want to let someone else maiden it or go buddy box if you aren't cumfy with the maiden. And one thing I know for sure is that it doesn't do as well in a crash as a foamy as I built 3 wings and most of the fuse after a few lawn darts.

I have been enjoying your thread as I still have the Eagle II and have had electrifying it on the build queue for years but it just keeps getting bumped back. Nice to see the CG worked out. Even with the glow fuel tank and motor I still had to use a Harry Higley heavy brass prop nut to get the CG correct.

I got interested in the Eagle again after recently downloading a Sig Seniorita to Real Flight. I had forgotten how nice the 40 size aircraft fly.

Put the tail thingie dingie on today. Getting the radio programed so
it can be three or four channel at the flip of a switch. Also getting
the control surfaces all set. Graphics came today. May work on that
tonight after supper.

The nautical term (i.e. on a boat) for the thingie dingie is a "skeg"... I can only assume it has some other name on an aeroplane.

It is called a skid! They recommended several layers of
shipping tape on that area, but I think the skid looks better
and will look better later on for sure.

I like that idea. I have an Easy Star with ailerons that I had thought about doing that with. Are you going to be able to program the tx to move the rudder from left stick to the right one and disable the aileron servos? I have flown one on Real Flight with elevator on the right stick and rudder on the left and that was kind of awkard.
