Question
Can a micro linear servo be used with a normal Rx?

I am wondering if a micro linear servo, like the one pictured below, could be used with a non-micro Rx like an AR6200 or AR500? Of course an adapter would need to be used, but with an adapter in place can this micro servo plug right into a Rx and work normally?

It would be used for working bomb/drop tank pylons on my 1100mm P-51.

Here is the servo:

That servo accepts a maximum voltage of 4.2 volts. Standard Rx's require at least 4.8 volts. To use them with standard Rx's would require that you power the servos separately from the receiver.

In practice most receivers use a 3.3V regulator internally and will run reliably on 4.2V or less. It depends on the dropout voltage of the particular regulator used.

The BEC output from an ESC is regulated at 5V. If you place a diode in series with the power to the servo, that will drop the voltage by 0.7V. That means the servo sees 4.3V which i about the same voltage as a fully charged single cell.

I don't know about HK servos, but I have planes using genuine Spektrum A2030L servos (presumably what they cloned), controlled by an AR6300 or AR6310 receiver, using Castle ESCs with 5V BEC. No problems.

Linear on full range Rx

Hi Andy, whats Spektrums lightest weight full range Rx I could try the Linear servos with?
When you select Full range on the web site, the list seems to merge into various range Rx's.
