Don't Give Up

I was about to give up this hobby. I have built over six different models with just minimum success is teaching myself to fly. Most looked cool and others promised easy. Didn't work for me.
I saw this plane and thought I would try one more time. New Guys don't give up, build this one!

$tree foam board
Grayson Disposable Sport 1450KV
25 amp ESC
8X4 prop
1000 mAh 3 cell
9 gram servos and CF control rods.
15.3 ounces

The weight came after two crash repairs. One ESC failure and a servo came loose downwind. A one hour walk in the woods to find it. I also had to put in the ground because of 20 head of cattle that wondered into the field. No cattle were injured

I have 10 flights on my plane and it is still flyable. New Guys, read all the posts, build the plane and have a ball learning to fly the way you knew you could.
Thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement. EZ #2 is cut out and will be much lighter to enable more than eight minutes flying time.
Pictures to follow when I get a decent camera to use. Oh yes, CorB, that extra nine inches in the wing center section made a decent glider for power shut down

Hi,

i am new at flying planes so I build the EZfly, too

I ordered some parts:
hextronik 24g 1500kv
8x4 prop
10A ESC
2x 9g servos
2S 500mah
3S 1000mah

What flight times do you think I will have? I think at the beginning i will just cruise around.

I do fly Quadcopters and I got around 12 Minutes of flight time with a 3S 2200mah on my Quadcopter with an AUW of ~750g.

So I think the Flight times of a plane should be much greater, because it has the wing ...or am I wrong?

With 1000 mah and half throttle for learning curve flying a minimum 20 minutes.
I can do around 18 minutes just cruizing on a 750mah.

Just did the maiden on one of the two EZ fly trainers I bought. I built it with a turnigy 2730, 1500 kV, 7x5 prop, 10A ESC, 9 gram servos and a feather weight Lemon 6 ch. Power is currently supplied by a 500 mAh 2S. AUW is 8 oz. in this configuration. It's a pretty stormy night, and there was quite a swirling breeze, but it flew pretty well. I think on a calm day with more room than the back yard provides, I'll turn the 8 year old loose and see what he can do. The initial flight had no expo, so I think with about 30% expo it will tame it down quite a bit for him.

I bought these so my boys could have planes that don't require a buddy box. My wife is convinced they will want to fly more if I set them off on their own without the buddy box. We'll see how it goes. I suspect this will be an excellent endurance test for the EZ Fly. I might jump up to a 3S and see how it goes. With the 7x5, it seems like it could use a little more oomph, but I was flying with a partially charge battery, and in a swirling breeze.

Overall, seems like a great little plane.

Edit: just flew it with a 3s 500 mAh, it's a different animal! This seems to be a great little plane. I will take it to the field with me this weekend, and see how the boys do with it. I think my 11 year old will do just fine. The 8 year old will test its durability. I do think I want to get some 800 mAh batteries. Only getting about 6 minutes with the 500s.

I have looked at the EZ Fly for several years but never built one. I am going to be teaching a few coworkers how to fly so I decided to get going on one. I cut all the pieces out in about 2 hours.

I've taught dozens of people to fly with EzFlys - it's the BEST !
