Hello guys,

This was my first ever rc plane my dad bought for me!.It really brings nice memories,we never flew it,it never lifted off and in the end they robbed the engine and we never got to fly it.

I could get one and I the dream of flying it will be finally acieved.

One question about the cox QRC 0.49 engine, can I use any cool power 10% or higher nitro fuel with this engine or should I have special glow fuel for cox engines?.

And also where can I get the starter equipment like glow igniter and wrenches etc.

Any help would be appreciated!.

Best regards and blessings!.

Greg.

He guys,
Thanks for the fast replys!
So can I use 30% Cool Power Heli all synthetic fuel with the cox engine?.
And I would have to add castor oil to the fuel for max performance and protection to the cox engines?.

I'm not able to get any other fuel that is not from Morgan Fuels!.

For those who grow up with the Cox PT-19 Control Line Model, these shots with my E-Flite PT-19 should make you smile!

Nice pics xplane. The Cox PT-19 was always one of my favorite planes to fly as a kid.

Hey! once was pretty well average lifespan for those.
The Blu' n Yellow pt19 was a bit better.. typically good for a half dozen 'frights' before breaking the thing so badly that the motor couldn't be stuck back on.
The Foamy Cessna was a decent flyer.
But it's price was beyond ' most' kid's budgets...
Reason to make it only for the Richer Kids.
Cox lost the bulk of it's formerly loyal customer base by then.

that cessna was made by kyosho; that might explain the higher cost,

Only use fuel that has a minimum of 20% oil with half of that oil being castor. Something like Sig champion 25% would fit that requirement. The ball socket in the Cox engine needs the castor oil and it also provides a varnish that protects the parts during a lean run.

After reading these posts I decided to get my Cox Skylane out and fly it. I've had it for many years and since all of my flying now is electric the engine has never ran until today. I don't remember how long I have had the plane but the guy I got it from put it together and never attempted to crank the engine.

I was quite surprised at how easy the engine started and ran. I have a turf runway and I keep an area cut close to fly models. The Skylane took off after a somewhat substantial ground run and flew well with few trim changes needed. I got a 3 to 4 minute flight before the engine quit. Since I had some altitude I thought I would make a few turns and bring it in. I actually made one turn and barely made it back to the field. Having flown electric for so long I had forgotten how heavy the Skylane is and it doesn't like to slow down like most electrics. The landing was a bit rough but acceptable.

If anyone is interested I will part with my Skylane. It was a pleasant change of pace from my usual model flying but I don't think I will be getting back into the fuel powered aircraft anytime soon. Included with the plane is the Cox 3 channel radio and Cox starter kit that is complete with the unopened bottle of fuel and engine accessories. I will post a picture that was taken in 2006 and the airplane has been sitting on a shelf since then. Send me a PM and I will respond with current pictures.
