Sounds like you guys have experimented with the props. I tried a 4540 and though the plane flies decent, it does not have the power I thought it might. My local HS did not have any APC's so I orderd some off the net. They came in and are very flexible, (not APC's ) and now I'm wondering if they are too flexible. So I tried a 5.1x4.5 APC, and what a difference. It really kicks with that prop. I need to check my AMP draw and I have not flown it a lot with this prop. And then something interesting happened I nicked the tip of the prop and cut it down to close to 4.5x4.5 this seems to be pretty sweet. The APC's are much more stiff.

What do you guys think? Am I pushing things here too much on that cool little motor Pat sells?

The key is amp draw. So long as you're not drawing more than 8-10 amps constant, you should be OK. So be sure to check your amps. Anything over 10 could damage the motor.

Spar size

What size of CF spar is used in the wing for the kits? Is it 3mm x 1mm flat carbon?

With the prop I have now, I get below 10 amps unless I got full throttle. then it jumps to 12! So I've been careful, I also think I have a very slightly bent shaft.

If it is bent, send it back to me and I will replace it.

Pat I appreciate that, but really, I have no idea if I did this or not, I did break prop in a landing on weeds, not hard ground, but since it broke the prop, I think it could have bent it so it's not really on you.

It looks like it is pressed in, and has one c-clip on the rear. Is that right?

Yes, that's correct. Also, check the bell. There is a nut on the top of it that has two flat sides. This screws down and holds the bell in place. Make sure it is tight.

Napie just use the recommended motor. The plane screams with it! I've been flying mine for 2 years with the 1806/2500 motor. PM Pat. I'll bet he has plenty! Marty

Napie,

We have messed around with a bunch of motors, and really the AX1806N 2500kv is the best we've ever used. I am actually out right now waiting on more from China, but you can order them direct from Hobby King as well.

Here's some video a friend of mine took for me last June. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm a little slow! (PS - This was about 4 planes ago! )

Pat what do you guys end up with weight wise. Without battery, and then also with the battery.

Thanks,
Jeff
