450 size 212/412 W/ Blade 400 installed

I have two of the wing wing 212`s. One with a Quad head. The Blade 400 fits if you cut down the wood base plate without useing drop down tail mod. The quad head is flying without e-stab. The two blader has a sk-360 installed. I had been testing some 385mm blades on the 2 blader. They gave a good scale length but too wide. They are a bit touchy on controls so decide to go with my rotor tech 350 blades. Here`s a few pictures of the modified base

Good to know B400 without drop down tail.

1) How is the CoG?
2) Any build photos?
3) What is the weight?

The red/yellow is 2lbs. 13 1/2 oz. w/ one-6s 1300mah battery. The CG is right under main shaft.

The Camo is 3lbs. 2 1/2 oz. w/ two 3s 2200mah battery (6s). This one is nose heavy for flying without e-stab.

I don`t have any build photos. I knew I should have taken some of the plywood before and after.

Youre doing 6S, eh? Good stuff 385's...I take it these are bigger than the Heliartist version of the Bell heli. Nice work!

I have been doing 6S on 450 size helis for along time. I only have one not useing 6s and it is 4s in a Fusuno BO-105. The 385 blades were cool looking on it just too wide. If they were about 35mm instead of 45mm wide I may have kept them on the heli.

Maybe 40mm wide would be a good compromise? Here's some pics of my UH-1M running some cut down 500 size blades...

Definately gives a noticable improvement in lift, and flys really nice and scale-like with all that weight

I saw that post. I need to adjust the settings in the SK-360 to see if I can calm it down some more. It is touchy on cyclics. It has a nice sound in the air at 1800-1900 HS. With the motor and gearing 1800 is my lowest HS possible useing GOV mod on ICE 50. I used my Gazaur Mar`s 480 belt on this one. It is a 515MXL instead of the 544mxl that came with fuselage. Here`s a pic to show tail clearance

The raised tail comes with the fuselage. The belts that come w/ fuselages in my case were crap. I got the 212`s from www.hobbypartz.com. You can also get them @ www.xheli.com.

Cool, and yeah, those 385's look kind of wide I'm not too sure how heavy yours is compared to the HA version, but with max weight reduction on mine (no lead on board and still balanced), I run it at 1650rpm. Now that sounds real nice . I need to try smaller tail blades from the 450pro blades as it makes a popping noise I assume from the tail rotor disk hitting the main tip vortexes, I have a 5.4:1 ratio on it, so lots of leeway. Hobbypartz has a nice selection of low-kv 450 motors to really quiet things down. I moved to a 1800kv (1700 actual) on 3S with 16T pinion on it...real quiet now. They are 22x20 stator size...so real close to Scorp level torque compared to the average ~16mm 450 motor, probably allowing bigger pinions with no ill effects.

Oh wait, youre running 6s...well, I guess 3S is a good place to 'downgrade' to also

I get a bit of a pop noise also in the air but not all the time. After tweeking the Sk-360 some more, trying to lower HS is next on the list.

Hobbypartz and Xheli are one in the same.
Like Hobbyking and Unitedhobbies.com
I do wonder why some companies do this...
