While waiting for my new joiners to arrive I took the time to do some DIY stickers. Of course I couldn't done it without the help of my two little princesses.

Great decals, Pisaneli!

I came across something very odd during my build session tonight... The two pushrods supplied with the kit are of differing materials. One is very stiff carbon rod, and the other appears to be Teflon covered with some slippery black coating. The latter is much more flexible, and slightly smaller in diameter.

I'm curious what everyone else has gotten for pushrods... I'm thinking I'll just go to the hobby shop and get another carbon rod, and toss the more flexible one.

I'm planning to have a "shotgun" loading style on the ballast, like on my old Acacia II. I prefer that to risking the ballast spilling out and whacking the servos. Haven't decided if I want it top or bottom loading yet.

The receiver will fit under the deck between the servos and the big honking LiFe battery. No switch; just a big, reliable battery plug to keep it simple. Should be nice and clean.

Nice build shots!
Some time ago I did send some of the same push rod types that are used in freestylers and the like to the manufacturer. We've now reverted to the more usual carbon ones- that you have one of.

Hi RCRod

Unfortunately I broke my carbon rod while installing horns. I decided to do the old fashion way and used steel rods. I feel safer soldering.

Anyway, in both cases I found it hard to buy a proper rod lenght. Almost every rod is 1m.

Also started the bottom-access shotgun loading on the ballast tube, but forgot to take photos. Looking good so far. Should have that part finished up tomorrow.

I'm really liking how all the wiring and Rx are fitting below the tray. Did a test fit:

The Rx can be pulled out through the battery slot, if needed.

I ended up ordering a couple of replacement pushrods, since I have a mis-matched pair. Should be in sometime next week, so I can get started on the tails.

Here are the shots of the ballast port that I forgot to take last night... I'll probably wait to finish this part until I have my ballast slugs made. I plan to tie the ballast tube and inner nose cone together in this area for strength, and all-around awesomeness.

Thanks, Sam... You and me, both!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that yellow in the sub-nose is Kevlar. My nose got mixed up with Philip's down in SD, and by the time I got down to retrieve it, he'd given it da bidness! It really stiffens it up. Thanks, Philip!

After finally getting the wings/joiner/fuse combo to fit, my incidence pine fell out. Two of the 4 fell out before and I just re-glued them, but this one is only 1/16" in the root rib. I think it is time to buy some material, re-do the all and be done with it.
Faster suggestions?
