Question
Your Opinion: Can we expect 2m foam jets or not?

Greetings,

if you look at the "typical" big foam jet, then currently it is a Su-35 or Mig-29, is maybe 1.45 meters long, has a wing span of 1.10 meters, has 2x 70mm fans, has a 6S drive system and it weighs about 3kgs.

Do you think that this is "the end" of the development of larger foam jets, or will we see jets with 2meters of length, 2x 90mm fans, 5-6 kgs of weight and maybe an 8S+ electrical system? I know that some weird options exist, such as the Tetris jets, but there is no foam jet of this size available from the typical current suppliers, e.g. Freewing or Lanxiang.

Thanks for your opinion,
Henrik

Not at all. That very nice MiG is prompting me to ask... But that MiG is made out of wood and covered by printed foil, not foam. It is a nice plane, but I'd rather like to buy something of similar size and weight made out of foam plus a couple carbon fiber spars...

Cheers,
Henrik

Seein that there are 80" wingspan warbirds 2m foam isn't out of the question.

The issue is support structure and weight... I don't see even compressed EPO being light enough for big jets.

Also cost... the plates and molds for these jets are 80 stacks...

I doubt there would be enough buyers who could store and transport them (to sell enough to make a profit).
There are some nice airliners that are large like the Windrider 737 (flies well on twin 70mm fans).

Personally, I would love a foam 2m span twin 90mm jet (ME262 in particular).

I believe there is a foam Epic Victory Jet with twin 90mm out already. I suppose you could go larger to 2 or even 3M but what is your goal? Lighter weight, low cost, durability etc?

I enjoyed learning on cheaper and lighter foam EDFs, but now enjoy flying composite airframes exclusively..
