Tim, When you say "I am going to trace the wood frames" you got my attention. Several of the old kits dried out so much that the wood shrinks....in varying degrees. Be sure you compare the wood parts to the plans. Neither one may be perfect but knowing your skill, you will improvise. jda

Understood, I think they are still in thier sheets, so I will pay close attention to any seperation between the parts and sheets.

Only want to do this once so I will try to do it carefully and document the work.

Looks like You All are havin pretty pleasant weather there !

You may have the rest of us beat.

A Rare one indeed ?

A little while ago a Rare ebay find arrived here safely from Michigan, a Dumas Chris Craft 28' Semi Enclosed cruiser ...

I know of the Sterling kit but did not know Dumas produced them until recently.

The plans are signed by Al Dumas, 1951.

Looks complete, wood's in good shape, no sign of rot/mildew.

The seller said his Grandpa had passed on and this is one of the kits he has ( the others can be seen on ebay, seller is:

lightfoot2009

First job here, as with the other artifacts, is to copy the plans and put them away.

What you are doing is appreciated now and will be even more so by folks enjoying these kits in the future. Thank you.

I've had this Sterling catalog for years and thought everyone would enjoy looking at it and printing it if you want. Somebody out there probably could tell the year of this catalog. I think it was no newer than the 70's. I sure wish they were back in business. I'l love to fly another Ringmaster ,Jr.

What happened to Sterling, where did they go. All that equipment had to have gone some where.

Early Christmas !

So, I am the Very lucky new curator for this Very well built little model, 42Corvette was very gracious in granting me the honor of Caretaker.

Its very old as he stated, and very well built, as you can see its still in quite good condition !

There will be a refurb/upgrade performed with as little change as possible to the original configuration.

Wish we had a "refurb" tab here...

Hi Tim,
So happy the boat made it intact. I'm probably having more fun watching you have fun with it, than I did when it was sitting in the cabinet. Thanks to you it will have a second life.
Best wishes,
Dick
