Micro Drone 2.0 camera and other stuff?

Hi all!

I'm totally new to this whole thing about quadcopters, drones and even whole RC.
I bought a Micro Drone 2.0 at OK discount from StackSocial + Extreme Fliers (UK).
Tho after looking for other quadcopters I realized it's almost the same as some cheaper drones on market (eBay)...

But, I'd like to change my camera on this quadcopter as it's really bad 640x480 cheap thing...

So, is there any camera that this quadcopter can lift up, and has a good quality video for a fair price?
Also I'd like it to be a FPV if that's possible

Also, if I'd like to modify this quadcopter what parts to look for? Can I look for parts from Hubsan X4? Or Walkera? or some other?

Thank you and I hope someone can help me!

Hello,

I recently bought the same one as you, and have the same ideas, I have found places where you can purchase spares etc, mainly ebay and direct from exteme fliers.

However I have a question for you, I cannot get my camera to work, the red and green lights just flash on the bottom, I have an 8GB SD card inside which has been formatted correctly.

Am I right in thinking you need to press the function button on the remote to start recording? If so the issue is, when I press this function button my quadcopter just does a stunt flip. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Kind regards,
Kristopher

I too have a couple of these "Micro Drone 2.0" by Extreme Fliers and have been trying to find parts for them. I'm really not interested in paying the extortion prices they are charging on the extreme fliers website (1.95 for a single prop, 8.99 for a battery). So this is what I did:

I found massiverc.com here in the USA has stock on props and accessories for V202 or V939 and they are competitive prices. I *believe* these are the same if not very similar/close enough to the Micro Drones sizes. So, I ordered a bunch. This is what I ordered:
From here (under accessories):
http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/...ansmitter.html

A bunch of these guys:
http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/...k-2-cwccw.html

I also ordered batteries and chargers from bang good.com:
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-WL...7-p-49464.html

You can also get cheap canopies and other parts from there as well. I still don't know *IF* any of this will work on the Micro Drone but I'm pretty hopeful, it all appears to be the same size and the correct stuff.

I'll post back once some of this stuff arrives in hopes that it helps someone else looking for parts as well.

Hey NS,

The Micro Drone is the MJX X100\Mini Pet. You want Mini Pet props. Here are the spares we have for the Mini Pet. Stock up because once they're gone............they b gone

Thanks for the clarification.

What is the difference between what I ordered (v202/939) props and these ones? Just wondering now if I can still use them up (they go fast only flying indoors while there's still snow outside) or if I need to order again.

The V202 props have built in prop\motor guards and won't fit on your motors due to the height. Go ahead and make a new order referencing your RC Groups name and your V202 prop order and I'll cancel the V202 props and put that money towards your new order and refund any money owed to you after you make your 2nd order.

Ok cool. I'll do that in the morning. I believe I did get a shipping email this afternoon on my first order so I may need to send the first props back if they've already left your facility.

Yeah, that package has already gone out. Someone else just ordered V202 props so I thought it may have been you. Reject the package so you don't have to pay return shipping.

Thanks for your clarification about Micro Drone 2.0 and that it's actually another alot chaper, assembled quadcopter.

Also, I ordered 2 batteries for cheap from eBay.

You can see them here where I also described the problem that happened to me when I pulled the battery connector, and now I need a good solution how to fix that.

On reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Multicopter/...ery_connector/

And photos directly: http://imgur.com/a/G5svB

So, if you got a better solution how to fix that connector, and actually make it fixed to drone's body, so when pulling battery to not actually pull cables as I had to several times because of the really strong connector let me know... :S

Tnx!

These were for the V202 originally but work on any micro quad with Micro Losi connectors and are much beefier than the Micro Drone\Mini Pet\MJX X100 stock connectors:

In an attempt to gather info about the Micro Drone here's some I've found.

This guy appears to be a micro drone clone and is very inexpensive:

Not sure how good the vendor is though.

I am curious to hear other people's experience with the Micro Drone 2.0. I was given one as a gift and use it as my practice flyer now to avoid extreme damage to my other quads.

The first thing I noticed with the Micro Drone 2.0 was the packaging. Mine came with the camera but it was just in a bag thrown into the box with the rest of the kit, no instructions. I had to go to the Extreme Fliers website for any info on it. I noticed there that it said the camera was 720p which it definitely is not; my videos are only 640x480. I've had no response from them on whether or not a HD camera is available but I assume not.

I also noticed that if you buy the camera module separately you get a new battery cage with screw mount for the camera. Mine did not have this cage and the instructions on their site do not mention it, they just say to mount it with double sided tape.

Anyway it is a pretty stable flyer, I can hold position with it pretty easy and it zooms around pretty nice. That is until I mount the camera. With the camera module installed it flies like a dog, controls feel heavy and the throttle response is terrible. I've bounced it on the ground several times because the throttle simply could not pull out of a descent from low altitude. I also noticed that it just kills the flight time. The quad loses all ability to get off the ground after about 4 minutes.

Also noticed that with the camera mounted to the battery cage with double sided servo tape the vibrations are so bad that the video is nearly unwatchable. I was able to resolve this by mounting it with velcro instead of the tape. The velcro seems to absorb some of the vibrations from the quad.

So what are the opinons of you Micro Drone 2.0 owners? Do you like the performance? Have any tweaks or suggestions?

I got a micro drone for Christmas and love it. I agree the camera is not 720 and I struggle getting it to work half of the time. So I hardly use it now as you probably get about a 3rd more flight time without it.

I think the drone flies great, really getting good with it now.

Now, I see this being identical to the ladybird so have purchased the TX5805 FPV camera as it should work with a 1s battery and connect to the same point. I did notice I had to swap the + and - cables over before I powered it up. However for the life of me I cant get a signal through to my fatsharks. Its powering up and I feel the TX5805 getting hot and heard that its a normal trait. I was looking forward to some micro fpv'ing rather than always having to get out the 450.

Anyone else have any success with this?
