1/20 Late War Elco - almost ready to launch

Almost done and ready for the water (there's still snow on the ground in Michigan). Attached are photos of my 1/20 late war Elco from Mosquito Boat Hobbies. The figures are modified from a Tamiya pit crew.

Nice detail, and great job with the figures!

But the skipper is out of uniform... I hope one of the crew can remind him to put his cap back on.

Lighten up Pat, it's late in WWII, and most of these guys wouldn't have shirts on either---.: p

Or this?

BTW, I never saw this image of PT-59 before... an Elco 77, later converted to gunboat usage, and skippered for a while by a recuperating JFK. Check out that non-reg camo pattern!

And if someone really wants some accurate WW2 figures, they need to be SCRAWNY...

(apologies for such a rapid hijack of your thread, newPT)

Great Job!!!! Way to go with the pit crew figures they are a real pain to work with.
It's nice to see another 1/20 scale boat out there. What did you use for motors and did you take photos of how you set up the interior?

I went with the pre-packaged twin motor geared set up from Mack Marine. I ended up using an Astroflight ESC. I made a seperate access hatch so I can hook up the battery without removing all of the deck structure (which I can take out per the plans if I need to)

Are you using two separate speed controls or one and is that the Astroflight ESC w/reverse?
I'm using two Astroflight 25's and two Astroflight ESC w/reverse in my newest PT. Each motor uses two 7.2v batteries for a total of four in each boat. What power have you planned and which radio did you get?

I am using a AstroFlight 208D with reverse. I plan to use a 10 cell, 3600 mAh NIMH battery..(or maybe two) to power the boat. I use a Futaba Skysport with a ground freq. Right now I have throttle, rudder and a can turn on the light and run the radar.

Beautiful job Well Done!

Since the hat-picking has been resolved *grin*, I've got one tiny beef. That flat coil of line on the port stern deck has me worried. If I were skipper, I'd be concerned that the coil might slide off the deck and entangle the prop. How about telling your crew (mighty fine bunch of sailors) to coil it and secure it to that stauntion before putting to sea?

The crew has had to much #25 they "found", to get that close to the stern.
Very nice looking boat!
In the water pic's soon?
