Cool
=======Tehachapi slopers=======

Hi, all! I'm now a dedicated Tehachapi-area sloper having moved to Bear Valley late last year. I know there's a bunch of you out there so hopefully we can use this thread to share info, flying sites and especially getting together for some great Southern Sierra Nevada sloping.

Convict Hill is my "local" site and I've been to Dovetail Hill lately too. In an east wind that bluff off the south side of the 58 just before Towerline Rd. has been flown and reported to be a good place with a nice LZ so let's share some info and whereabouts in this great hobby. The more friends to fly with the better!

Here's a list of our flying sites with GPS coordinates and wind direction:

- Convict Hill (W wind, Cummings Valley): Lat 35 7'47.20"N, Lon 11833'31.60"W
- Dovetail Hill (W & E wind, Golden Hills): Lat 3510'1.94"N, Lon 11828'57.41"W
- Towerline Bluff (E wind, Hwy 58 at Tower Line Rd): Lat 3518'51.09"N, Lon 11847'26.92"W
- Couch Hill (N,E(?) & W winds, Hwy 58 at Sand Canyon) Lat 35 6'58.58"N, Lon 11819'35.74"W

Have you found a site that's good for a South wind?

Not yet but hey. I'm the new guy in town. I'll have to do some Google checking and see what we can come up with. Any ideas where to look? I'd think maybe the north side of Cummings Valley or somewhere in Golden Hills might yield something.

Lots'a good places to slope up in the "hill country" of Tehachapi!! Been years since I've flown up there--might have to make a "road trip" and hit the slopes!! Enjoy!!

Whats nice about snow is it makes for a cushy landing. I am grateful to Mark to begin rallying folks for some local flying.

We will put our heads together and look for some good multi-wind direction slopes. If everyone can Google earth our area as well and come up with some additional suggestions it would be helpful. There are some slopes for South facing winds, some potential great ones, but we need to work out access with some local property owners. The bowl above Monolith/Lehigh concrete would be great for South and East winds, I will contact their management to determine if we can secure permissions.

Snow's long gone down here but still in the upper hills some. At my altitude it's around for a few days then gone. I like it that way.

A "T-fest" would be a cool idea. It'd be kinda like WeaselFest with access to different sites depending on wind conditions. If it's completely dead, bring a motor job and we'll have at it here in BVS at the local field.
