Park flyers in East Peoria, IL

I was wondering if there are any park flyers in the East Peoria area? Right now I'm into small electric beginner planes and other small foam park flyers and cannot justify the price tag of joining a local club + AMA for casual use. I'm over 3 miles from the local r/c flying field and have been flying in a small park nearby, that is of minimum size (500') for park flyers. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there park flying and if there are any other good places to fly in the East Peoria area?

Not sure but come out to the Pekin R\C Club field sometime and visit us. http://www.pekinrc.com We love having new people and have trainers that carry buddy cords to teach with. I know fees can be high but it pays off with the people you meet. Hope to see you there sometime.

You can use any of the parks in Peoria. I called the Peoria Park District Police Department and asked if the parks have any kind of restrictions concerning RC operation in the parks. I was told as long as it isn't disturbing anyone or flying over traffic that it is ok in the parks.

People used to fly out at Detweiller Park using the soccer fields but they made them stop due to people flying over the highway.

Glen Oak Park has two good sized clear areas in front of the zoo on Prospect Ave.

Lower Bradley Park near Farmington Rd.

Behind the USDA on University at Nebraske Ave is a large wide open track field next to the baseball diamond. They are owned by Bardley University but everyone uses the track field.

The front parking lot for the Heart of Illinois Fair on Northmoor Rd is large and grass.
